The Operative: No One Lives Forever
Review by Resident Evil Zombie
"The best FPS game for the PC!"
No One Lives Forever is a game that was introduced to the PC in November 2000. NOLF is an obscure FPS game that has spawned a couple of sequels and different versions for this game. This game was even awarded Game of the Year. This is my review on No One Lives Forever.
Story: 9/10
You play as Cate Archer is a spy that works for a secret company. Archer is sent on a mission to investigate the evil corporation called H.A.R.M. As the story progresses, Archer learns more about H.A.R.M.'s evil intentions. Archer must travel around the world and try to put a stop to H.A.R.M's evil plans.
The story sounds a little old and unoriginal. But as the story progress, it gets more interesting. I give the story a 9.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics to todays standards is sub par. But since this game goes back to 2000 then the graphics cannot be judged by todays standards. I find nothing wrong with the graphics in this game. The level design varies depending on what mission you are in. The levels are detailed well and matches the scenery. The character designs are a little blocky. All in all, the graphics are not much to worry about in this game. I give the graphics a 9.
Sound: 10/10
This game features some of the best music. The music in this game fits each level perfectly. For example, the music in Misfortune in Morocco is fast-pace which fits the atmosphere well. The character voices were established well in this game too. I give the sound in this game a perfect 10.
Controls: 10/10
You have the option to either use a controller or the keyboard and mouse. Although the controller is the best way to play this game with, the controller and mouse is not hard to use either. The keyboard and mouse does not rely on the keyboard a lot. You use the mouse to control Cate and the mouse buttons to shoot. The Keyboard is only use to view your status screen, jump, and change weapons. I give the controls a perfect 10.
Gameplay: 10/10
I will first talk about the missions in this game. This game contains over fifteen missions. Each mission is split up into different parts. Each mission takes place in a different place like one mission takes place in a hotel in Morocco while another mission takes place in a bar in Hamburg. In these different missions, Cate must complete different objectives. The objectives in this game include the ordinary rescue hostages, infiltrate a building, etc. But this game also includes wacky objectives that doesn't make the game so repetitive.
This game features a different variety of weapons. The weapons in this game are the same old machine gun, rocket launcher, magnum and shotgun. However, the gadgets featured in this game are creative and wacky. For example, the hair piece of Cate's is actually a knife that has poison in it! As the game progresses Cate obtains new gadgets. The game even explains for you how to use them!
In the missions you can also collect different intelligence items which gives you bonuses at the end of a mission. You also can play in multiplayer mode and try to kill your opponent. I give the gameplay a perfect ten!
Final Recommendation:
Get this game now! Since this game has been out for a good seven years, then the price of it is cheap.
