"The big rig that couldn't."

Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing. A racing game with a big title, but can it compete with the bigger racing games?

Gameplay: 4

When you think of over the road racing, you'd probably think of a fast paced game where you're driving off road and hitting jumps etc. Well in this game you can literally be over the road... into nothing. You can drive up mountains and go into blank space where you still collide with ground. But ground is all you'll be colliding with in the whole game. You can drive through buildings, the opponent, bridges, poles and everything besides ground. And you're always on the ground, if you drive off something like a bump, you would expect to get air but you just stick to the ground. Also, if you drive backwards the speed is not limited. This means you can drive over 4000 mph.

The AI in this game is terrible. It just drives in a pre determined line to the finish. You can't lose. Even if you let your opponent get to the finish first, it will still say "You're winner" when you reach the finish line.

There are five levels in Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing. Devil Passage works. Devil Passage 2 isn't too different that the first. Forgotten Road 1 works... but it's the only forgotten road so the "1" in the name is pointless. Night Ride actually looks like a cool city level in the preview picture. Too bad it just loads up Devil Passage. The fifth and last level is called Small Town Road. Don't try to play it though, your game will crash.

Sound: 5

The music is mediocre. It sort of reminds me of the music in Napolean Dynamite. It's funny but gets repetitive. It sounds old, and I really can't think of any other way to describe it...

Control: 1

The controls are simple. You use the arrow keys do drive, turn, stop and go in reverse. It may sound newbie friendly but the fact that it's extremely clunky brings it down. After releasing the left or right arrow key for turning, it takes the truck about five seconds to stop turning. The stopping is also extremely slow.

Graphics: 3

Pretty terrible. Most of the ground is pixelated, and changing the graphics setting does nothing at all. The truck models are bad and the wheels don't even turn... The only decent part of the graphics is in one of the levels, there's a decent road texture, although it looks like someone just took a picture of a road and slapped it in. You might want some tissue to clean the blood from your eyes.

Overall 4

This game is the worst commercial game ever. Period. It's so bad that it's funny. I'll give it a 4 for overall just because it's so laughably bad. It makes me wonder if the developer even tested this game at all. How can they expect to make money from this piece of garbage? There are completely free games that are 1,000,000 times better than this.

Although you should never, ever pay a dollar for this piece of trash, if you're extremely bored and want a good laugh for about five minutes and you're willing to pay the money... go for it. Otherwise stay away from this game at all costs.
