Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

"Very good game, to a point"

Ah, the sequel to the game of the year. Now, I know that this game had some high expectations to live up to, and it very well could of, had the creators had more time to complete it. They had 36 months to make the first one, and only about 16 months to make this one, which explains the missing content. For instance, there is mention of a "droid planet" from one of the characters, but it was not put in the game because of the time constraints. There is so much more that could of been done with this game, if only they had more time to complete it.

But thats not why you came to see a review is it, no, it isn't. Aside from the content, this is a very fun game. Kotor 1 was and still is my favorite game to date, because of the open-ended gameplay, freedom, and the influence your decisions had on the galaxy. I have to say, these same elements were put into the second game. You get a whole new objective, no more star maps for you! *SORTA SPOILER-ISH THING, BUT NOT REALLY* in this version, you are but an exile from the jedi order following the mandalorian wars, and through the game, you slowly regain connection to the force (force points). I liked this, because it meant I could start as a jedi, muwahahahahaha....ahem, sorry. I also liked how your choices either gave you or cost you influence with your companions. With enough influence, you can find out their story of how they came to join you, and most of them can even become jedi with the right process. This also sports the return of Hk-47, although he doesn't work at the beginning of the game. After you fix him though, he was still the bloodthirsty, sarcastic droid we knew and loved.

By all means, this game is solid. It offers hours of fun, depending on if you do any sidequests, or just do the main ones and quit. I will say that the ending of the game leaves much to be desired, so lower your expectations in that department All in all, if you want a solid rpg to play, or want to find out the story after the first kotor ended, I recommend this game, the choice is yours....
