"A mediocre game at best...but at least it doesn't cost anything"

War Rock is a free first person shooter you can download at www.warrock.net. You can play it for free, but there is also the option of playing for premium membership where you get more benefits. Overall, I find this game to be mediocre, even for a free game.
Graphics- 7/10

My computer cannot handle good graphics. However, it can play this and I was even a little disappointed. The graphics themselves are not that bad. However, the character models are a little weak and hard to see. Also, the frame rate of this game is not very good.

Audio- 7/10

The audio in this game is also mediocre. Gunshots do not sound that great. However, the music is decent.

Controls- 5/10

I find the controls in this game to be a bit strange. You cannot even bind stuff to an extent. For example, I like to place lots of functions on my mouse. However, I cannot bind those controls to my mouse, only to my keyboard, which leads to a bad control scheme.

Game Play- 13/20

The game play is similar to Soldier Front for those of you who play that. You buy weapons to use in the game. However, you can only own them for like 7 or 30 days, depending on how much you pay for them, so you have to keep re-buying them. I find this to be lame. We should be able to buy weapons permanently, not rent them. Game normally consist of two teams, one attacks and one defends. This leads to unique game play that can be fun if executed correctly. However, it is not. As I mentioned above, the controls are awkward and the game does not always run smoothly. Overall, it's not too bad though.

Fun Factor- 9/20

Overall, this game is not very fun when compared to other similar games. If you want my opinion, download Soldier Front. It is similar, has better game play, and the game is only 1/2 the size of this one. This game has more maps than Soldier Front though. This game can be fun sometimes, but you're better off with another game.

Replay Value- 5/20

This game has few maps and even less if you do not pay for the premium version. I tried setting up a game and I could only choose from like 2 maps since I was not a member. However even with the member maps, there are not many at all.

Difficulty/Learning Curve- 8/10

This game takes a little while to get used to but I don't think that the learning curve is any worse than other games.

Overall- 54/100

Overall, War Rock is a mediocre game. Since it is free, you might as well give it a shot, but I would really recommend other games over this one.
