Rome: Total War

Review by zhuge_liang_

"The Most Historically Accurate Game"

I call this the most historically accurate game because this is the greatest. The graphics, places, wonders and even empires are placed exactly where they are in the game. This is also based on history, not fiction like let's say... Devils? I can also say this game is cool!

In speaking of cool, this game rocks! Not only the 3-d graphics are realistic but you could also think how man advanced through the ages.

In this game we start as one of the Roman families, vying for power. This humble begginings are so sweet. You should really work hard to gain your goal here: the supreme ruler of Rome.

It is said that Rome was established by Romulus, at least in Roman myth. Well if your a pseudo Caesar, this is the perfect place to conquer old world.

Speaking of game modes, we can choose a variety of choices. In campaign mode, we could match the deeds of our factions or play at your own pace. We can also defend and attack territories, move armies in place strategically and use underhanded tricks for you arch rivals like spying on their settlements and assasinating enemy generals.

In this game characters also gain experience, retinues and ancillary characters. Characters also marry and have sons and daughters.

This game also is a good history teacher for us. Here many people question the battle of Thermophylae in the movie 300.

Also, settlements here have ancient names and some existed until this very day like Byzantium(Constantinople, now Istanbul, Turkey), Rome, etc.
Some settlements change over time, like Greece. In RTW, this place have many provinces but in RTW:BI, things had changed.

This game is also thrilling. You don't know where the enemy will come from.
They can come in every directions so be ready.

This game have also playable factions and unlockables. Julii and other Roman families have all the same kind of units. Unlike barbarians here, they don't differ in units.

Also, families here have their own advantages. Like the Julii, militaristic frontier or the Romans to the north that's the only goal is to defeat Gaul, Brutii, a largely managing family whose character traits are skilled beurocrats and the Scipii, a greek loving Roman family whose goal is to defeat Carthage.

Militarily, the romans are equal to each other but if Romans are fighting barbarians, they are at an advantage.

Historically, Hannibal crossed the alps to attack Rome's northern frontier but he cannot break though the walls of Rome. I'd say why did he not build a ram?

Here we could always ambush an otherwise unprepared enemy army passing through the woods. Surprising them would be a good way to win a battle.

I want to conclude that unless your a cheater, you wouldn't realize how great this game is. Cheating is bad. I discourage you to use it. Rome: Total War is a great game of mixed strategy and tactics for us to unveil. Many other factions are unlockables. Try to unlock them to have full experience in this game. I look forward for the producers of this game to make another one like this, but in different place. I could suggest to make a world game with enhanced graphics and many other factions and game modes to play like: Ex. World Total War and modes like: 1435: the mongolian invasion and many different factions like: Chinese, Mongols, Indians , Muslims and Koreans.
