Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar

Review by Dupre

"From the depths of Abyss..."

How did I find this game:
My friend bought a ''RPG game like'' game to N(intendo) E(ntertaiment S(ystem), but it was USA version and could not be played with his NES. Luckily, my NES had an USA version ''adapter''. He called to me and told me that he found a nice RPG and said that he's going to come to my house to try it. When we turned on the power we found out that this game was great! Great graphics and possibility to do so many things.
After a couple of years I found U(ltima) C(ollection) to PC and bought it. The graphics were so bad that I didn't even want to play the game, BUT since I had nothing else to do either, I decided to try it out:

The Graphics:
Compared to NES version, it's horrible. But when you think that it was done at 1985... The graphics are not bad nor good so I'll give them 6/10.

The Sounds:
I heard none. So I can't give a credit from this.

The Story:
This game's idea is to master The Eight Sacred Virtues of The Avatar and become The Avatar. I just love it! 10/10

The Challenge:
Some of my friends got bored to do things again and again to ''gain'' The Virtues. Gathering the Runes and Stones of the 8 Virtues took time and one big mistake took you to the beginning. Also leveling was hard because the character, who killed the enemy, got all the exp. points from that enemy. And finally, you had to prepare WELL before adventuring to The Great Stygian Abyss, where Codex and THE END lies.

Overall:
Even without the sounds and with bad graphics, this game is what I call GOOD! People should really put their 3D RPGs away and play something old, but GREAT like this game ^_^ ! 9/10
