The Sims 2
Review by Itachi62
"I want my life back."
Introduction
The Sims 2 is a simulator game, where you create a sim (like a person) and live their life. It may sound boring, but it's very fun!
Gameplay - 9/10
Your sims have a lot of different needs that humans need too. For example, you can't have them (your sims) never go to the bathroom. Well, I guess you could, but you'd have to mop the floor a lot. Your sims need food, they need to be social (or else the big bad social bunny will get you), they need to have good hygiene, they need to be in a good environment. You can't just keep your sim in a small enclosed fenced off area with a minifridge and bed! Actually, you could, but your sim may go crazy. You buy your sims couches, beds, chairs, paintings, plants, TVs, computers, game consoles, clothes, and pretty much anything. Then when you have all you want for your house, you live in it! You can get a job, and if you become rich, retire. Buy more items at any time, if you can afford it. Your sims can also die of old age, your kids don't stay as kids for all eternity like in The Sims 1. Toddlers will become kids, kids will become teens, teens will become adults, adults will become elders. Your sims can die in fires or flies can even eat them up. If you are doing your job, you may have 3 different choices pop up. One may give your sim a promotion, one may make him lose his job. Or, you can choose to ignore this, with no penalty or bonus. Also, your sim can get overweight and may have to work a lot to get rid of it. If you leave food around too long, flies will come at it. Roaches may come, too. Lots of different things can happen to your sims, and your sims can do a lot.
Graphics/Sound - 8/10
The graphics are pretty good, but they aren't the best. The sound mainly of flies buzzing, sims talking (in the sim language), TVs making odd noises, and lots of other things. Don't let these make you not buy the game.
Play Time/Replayability - 10/10
You can play this forever if you like. You can add your own objects, clothes, and anything to the game, making the replay value unlimited. The playtime is unlimited, because you can have your sims do different jobs, different lifestyles, and have a totally different life every time you play. Make lots of families, or build lots of houses if you like creating the most. You can download people's objects and houses etc from the Internet as well. All of this makes the replayability unlimited.
Final Recommendation
Buy it! It has some flaws, but all games do. If you get it as a gift, keep it!
The Sims 2 is a great game with good gameplay, decent graphics and sound, and unlimited play time/replayability. Don't let anything or anybody stop you from buying this gem.
