Review
Overall:
When you first play this game, the FIRST thing that comes into mind is ''Man I wish this was multiplayer''. The game is, well, big to say the least. Anyone who's played Wizardry 7 already knows what this game is like. However for those of you who haven't, read on =).
Gameplay:
Wizards and Warriors is a First-Person RPG. You start in a town where you create and customize your own party (a BIG PLUS in my book. I love tiny customization details) by picking out your character classes, genders, races, and other things. You learn of your quest in the game immediately after that and it soon begins.
Town/Options:
Anyone who has read my other reviews knows how much I love being able to do tons of different things in games from Mini-Games that don't involve standard traditional RPG combat. This game has lots of town options. You can go to the inn and change your party, go to the magic shop, the armory, the temple, and join the different guilds to further advance your characters. You can take quests to earn some good stuff or progress in the storyline. It's great!
Controls:
This is where I have a beef with the game. It
Battle Sequences:
ALL battles are in REAL-TIME. No transitions to battle screens. It has it's benefits as well as it's disadvantages.
World Map Movement:
It's FIRST PERSON. World map movement, town movement, all movement/fighting is done the same.
Secrets:
Tons of them.
Puzzles:
Tons of them.
Difficulty:
It takes a while to get used to the controls.
Story:
Standard old medieval stuff
Cut-scenes:
Not bad. Most cut-scenes are character animations.
Sound FX:
Standard RPG stuff.
Music:
It's decent.
Battle attacks:
You don't see the attacks since it's first person. You only see the result
Spell Sequence graphics:
Hmmm. Not bad. Could be better, but not bad.
Camera angles:
It's first person, so think of cameras from Quake.
Replayability:
Well the thing is, when you first look at the game, if you've never played Wizardry before you may want to return it. However if you play for a day you will be hooked.
