Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm

Review by JF7X

"After a line of sucess......"

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm is the third expansion game to the Dawn of War series. This game (like the ones in the past) adds more levels and races to the ever growing series however it does not mean it is necessary as good as the ones in the past. The storyline takes place in the Karuva sector in space where all nine races want total domination over the sector however only one can be in control of the area.

Game Play 6/10: The game play is the same as always except now they added a flying to every single race. However most units can shoot at air units so it make them pretty much obsolete. The air units can vary from attacking only air units to attacking both air and ground. Most air units have a population of 4 to build so you can't really have many of it. The only use I have found for air units is for a quick spotting unit and a bullet eater, other then that I don't really see a point to the air unit (except for maybe the Tau's air unit). The two new races that they added this time is Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle. Sisters are pretty much a weaker version of space marines however they are very anti infantry and Dark Eldar I have no clue since I have not played them but seeing from how other people play them, they seem to be mostly melee and cloak. Also the game has a many bugs at the moment, so it tends to be glitchy at times (for instance ai not shooting at you, air units being stuck and etc).

Replay Value 7/10: The new races and maps kind of add replay if you use them however if you just stick to one race or two then you won't find this part exciting at all. The storyline however I would not want to replay 9 different times.

Length 6/10: The single player game can be very short if you know where to attack and etc. It is just like Dark Crusade where all you have to do is squash the enemies capital to win and since for msot maps you don't even have to destroy their base it makes beating levels even easier if you just follow directions.

First off I would say this game is not worth $40.00. I don't know why they thought it was worth $40.00 but it is not. I say they should have just made the same price as Dark Crusade (29.99). The has some good points however the bugs kill it. The new things that they added are also not too flashy either.
