"A big let down"

Here is what I think about Gun. My review for gun, in my opinion this is a game with potential but it failed big time where it counted, playability. I have looked for a serious western game for a long time, tired of the crap like call of Juarez, gun had the atmosphere I was looking for but when it came to game play it fell flat on its face.

Story: It is a basic story, man lies about being father, son finds out, man dies, sun seeks revenge, blah blah blah you can guess the rest. It isn't a bad story but it has been done so many times its lost all value.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere in this game is pretty good, I felt immersed until I hit a point in the game where I just could not play anymore.

Graphics: They are ok, there a bit weak for the time this game came out though, you can see they are dated but they get the job done. I would not say the graphics are amazing though.

Audio: Weapon sounds are pretty good, the voice acting is ok, this is actually some of the better voice acting I have heard lately. The music is fine but I think it could have been a bit better; it is by no means bad.

Game play: Now this is where this game fall's flat on its face, which is a crying shame since it has been mostly positive until now. The gun play in this game is pretty well done, but my real problem is the stupid mission's, the racing missions and the escort missions mostly, I mean why did they have to go and ruin a pretty decent game by throwing in loads of pointless crappy missions that I doubt many people even enjoy. The worst race was probably the race with honest tom, this is pretty close to the beginning of the game so you may have just gotten the feel of the game, then they go and throw in a stupid race, I could not get past this race. I needed to have my brother beat honest tom for me and even after that I gave up on the game later on. To top it all off the game is like 3 hours long.

Do not buy this game unless you are really into westerns and even then I am sure you would be able to find a better game then this. You could always just watch Unforgiven and pretend your William Munny.
