Aliens Versus Predator 2

"For my 20th review...aww that's a shame."

I love the Alien movie franchise. I loved the original Predator (not so much the sequel). So, why not. Aliens vs. humans vs. predators in a survival of the fittest. Well, the idea may sound golden, but it comes out of the oven half baked and more like a grey green.

The graphics weren't terrible by the standards of a PC in 2001. Textures were pretty detailed, as were faces and their expressions. The graphics, honestly looked pretty good. The problem was that, if you weren't playing on a border line super computer, you would have issues with running this game. The characters move like their made of iron or jelly. Either way they don't move realistically. This might be bearable if the frame rate didn't chug along so slowly. It seriously hinders the game.

The sound is pretty mediocre as well. The aliens make a really whiny sound. I don't know where it was derived from because I've never heard it in the movies. The humans all sound about the same. The predators sound pretty cool, but the sound effects in the rest of the game are boring and uninspiring. You know, wind and footstep sounds. The boring norm.

The story is extremely basic. As the human it's, land on the planet, discover Aliens, leave planet. It's too simple and stupid. AS the predator it's, get revenge on humans for killing your buddies. Also, generic and boring. The Alien is a little better. It's become an adult, destroy the base, protect your queen. It's all been done before and done better before.

The controls are awful. The poor frame rate holds back the controls by slowing the action. The human is clunky and slow, making him a real annoyance to control. The predator, admittedly, has some cool weapons. They actually are fun to use. The alien, however, controls like a worm with seizures. It's impossible to control, especially when it randomly starts to scale walls.

1. Graphics are actually OK.
2. Alien story creates minor interest.
3. Predator has some cool weapons.

Negative:
1. Frame rate is awful.
2. Sound is atrocious.
3. Controls ruin any fun you might obtain.

This game is for real die hard fans of the 2 series. Even you should be careful about purchasing this game. It's bad, really bad. Any redeeming qualities, are generally covered up by a bunch mre bad ones.

I give it 4 "GET AWAY FROM HER YOU_____"...out of 10.
