Wages of War: The Business of Battle
Review by therater13
"Bugs hinder a great game."
Wages of war, I remember when I got this game I wanted to try it so badly, but it just wouldn't work right, it was so hard to get this game to work but in the end I must say, it was worth it. This is one of the most fun tactical games I have ever played, it is very hard, possibly one of the hardest games I have ever played in my life. This game is a bit slow moving and it is quite hard to get into but in the end, it is very intense, once the bullets start flying, your squad is dropping left and right, members are getting shell shocked under pressure, your weapons are jamming. You will feel the frustration and you will realize just how fun and rewarding the game is.
Story: There is not much of a story in this game, you are a merc organizer and you really just do different jobs for different people, there is not much story involved but he back ground stories of the missions and of the merc's you hire are nice and well done, also well thought out.
Graphics: I must say these are not the best graphics I have ever come across, but they are not the worst either. In my opinion they look nice and deliver what the game needs. There is a fair amount of detail put into the map's, but everything is a bit fuzzy but it is good enough.
Audio: A weak point of the game, the voice acting is decent, the mission contacts are voiced pretty well but the in game mercenary chatter sounds pretty crappy to be honest. The gun sounds are pretty good but they are always the same, a bit of mixed gun shots would have been nice.
Game play: This is where the game shines and fall's apart. Firstly there is many bug in this game, it has a bad habit of crashing when you need it to run stable, I remember when I was moving to the extraction point in one of the longer hard missions I was going to the save screen and when I was about to click save it crashed, oh boy was I mad but I ended up doing the mission better anyway so it wasn't a big deal. The game runs on turn based moved in and out of combat, everything runs on acting points. It gets real heavy once the bullets start flying so I hope you brought enough ammunition!
If you see this game buy it, it's real fun! As long as you can handle a few bugs.
