Icewind Dale

"Diablo clone."

Ice wind dale. When I heard of this game I thought it was going to be a very good rpg, I went looking for a rpg but I found one of the most dull dungeon crawl's I have ever played. I could not even finish the game, I got maybe 3 quarters of the way through the game, I will get to the specifics on why I did not like this game soon. I regret buying this game overall, however I got it with its expantion fairly cheap so I can not say it ruined my life like morrowind did.

Audio: The monster sounds do not sound all that great but I found that the spell effects sounded pretty good and they make it pretty cool when your mages get strong.

Graphics: Honestly I like the graphics in this game, they look very nice and crisp, they are not state of the art but I would take these over a game like never winter nights any day.

Balance: This game is pretty tough but is it not impossible, the balance in this game is ok.

Story: The story is sort of like the book, except it does not take place at the same time. To be honest I didn't notice much of a story, it really just sent me to different dungeons and crypts and I pretended like the briefings before each chapter made sense.

Game play: The game itself plays like a real hard core rpg but there is so much combat it seems like a dungeon crawler. I did not like the way you could not get any party members in the game but that you had to make a party at the beginning of the game. Certain classes are very weak also, I made the mistake of making a fighter/druid with turned out to be a completely worthless class. But the main problem was the dungeon crawling, the endless dungeons you had to go in, it made the game so boring, I got to around chapter 4 then I gave up on the game because it was just more of the same.

Overall I would have to advise people to skip on this game, it just is not that good, it tries to be a hardcore rpg but it ends up being more of a cheap Diablo clone. I think they could of made this game much better.
