Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Review by Mesdoram2
"Few glitches, but nothing too damaging."
Let me get my frustration first:
DAMN YOU CRASHING BUG! I WAS DONE WITH THE STUPID RACE AND YOU CRASHED ON ME!
*cough* So ya by far the most annoying bug has to be the random crashes for seemingly no reason besides Murphys Law. Another thing that gets annoying very quickly is the dialogue. So instead of having all those voice actors do Different lines, they decide to have many of them say the same lines but by different voice actors. Seriously now? Also you better get used to hearing "Well if you are feeling a bit lost..." cause you will hear that.... alot.... The story was thrown in there just to give the game some kind of skeleton. It is there mostly for its off humor and not really to impress anyone.
Ok now for the good; explosions, funny dialogue, good combat, decent amount of weapons, and a decent sized world. The fact that everything (besides those forsaken thick bushes) can be destroyed leaves for some interesting possibilities for combat and world exploring.
Hey there are lots of VA (Venezuelan Army) down this block *Calls in several air strikes and levels the town*
Much better.
Hijacking tanks also add an interesting twist by adding a sequence event to take over a vehicle. The tougher the vehicle, the tougher the jack will be. It adds a little challenge and makes ya think twice about jacking something *cough* Anaconda *cough*
The guns I like in this game. Unlike Mercs 1 you can't get a bunch of special crates from the start to give you the G36C and own everything right off the bat. The good guns come along pretty late in the game. You start off with garbage and need to find on your own a replacement that you like. Might I say it feel very satisfying shooting off the best rocket launcher. Even though the enemies have a pooled intelligence of a sack of rocks, they tend to swarm you; and if they have a tank and a few rocket launcher troops you will be running with your tail between your legs.
Overall if ya like open-world games and lots of explosions I suggest getting this game.
If you like strong, epic stories with rich character development, run far far away from this game
