Chain Reaction Satisfaction!

Pocket Tanks is an excellent little game for anyone to play. The game is a turn-based artillery game, which has you, in a little tank against another little tank on big landscapes. You can play on your own against a CPU (ranging from difficulties 1-10), with a friend or just have some fun with the target practice in which you just mess around with every weapon. The game is simple. Pick your weapons on a weapon choice screen (you pick one then the other player picks one, then you pick one…Etc.). Then you are taken to a landscape which has the 2 tanks positioned on either side of the map. The landscapes can range from being flat, hilly, cliffs and have big ditches in the middle. Then you take turns to choose a weapon, then angle, power and finally FIRE, and hope you hit your opponent. When you hit your opponent depending on how you hit them or with what weapon you get points. The person at the end of the game (when both player runs out of weapons) who has the most points win.

The weapons are pretty random. They can range from simple ones like ‘single shot', which is just 1 average tank shell, to insane weapons like ‘pineapple' which after you fire splits into about 20 separate shells to rain down on a big area pretty much guaranteeing a hit on your opponent. The music of the game is pretty catchy at first but then it just gets repetitive and boring so you usually will just turn it off. The weapon sounds are pretty cool though. The graphics of the game are basic but good. The tanks and landscape is very simple but the weapons look great. The game is pretty repetitive though and you will only probably be able to play short bursts of it every now and then without it getting boring.

To get the game you can either download the demo (which is the exact game, just with fewer weapons) for 2.7 megabits on windows (or 5.5 on MAC) or you can buy the full version. Both of these are available at the home site, www.blitwise.com, who are the makers of other successful games like DX Ball and Neon Wars. I highly recommend downloading the demo and not the full version because it costs nothing and is awesome. All the full version is, is an added 30 weapons to the 30 in the demo. Definitely not worth it. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this game and give it 7.9 out of 10 = 8 out of 10.
