The Curse of Monkey Island
Review by Doodleheimer
"The story of a wannabe pirate who turns his lover to gold. I've been there, it's not that bad. Don't worry about it, amigo."
Game Play-
10/10
The game play in Curse of Monkey Island has been upgraded from Monkey Island 2. There is just so much more creativity in this game than in any other computer game, only to be outdone by Escape From Monkey Island. The jokes in this game are very funny. I am sure that you will enjoy this particular game. The puzzles are mind-boggling. And that is in the Normal Mode. In the Hard Mode, which you should do after you beat Normal Mode, the puzzles will literally make you scream, and I mean scream, at your computer. I like that feature in a Lucasarts Graphic Adventure game.
Graphics-
10/10
The graphics in Curse of Monkey Island are a HUGE, and I mean HUGE upgrade from Monkey Island 2. First of all, this engine is a new engine, and it does not use the engine found in Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis, and The Dig. Man, that is a lot of games. And the interface is different, unlike the point and click interface found in, well I am not listing those games again. I love the rich, fluid graphics found in this game, and I am sure that you will love the rich, fluid graphics in this particular game too.
The game tends to use cartoon-ish graphics, which look really chillin'. The FMVs look like cartoons, only these look good, and they aren't of that Flintstones animation crap.
Audio-
10/10
The music in Curse of Monkey Island is peaceful, relaxing, and it adjusts to the landscape and surroundings. The voice acting in this game is excellent. That guy who does the voice of Guybrush Threepwood is an excellent voice actor. Thank goodness he does the voice acting in Escape From Monkey Island too, I cannot imagine anyone else voicing Guybrush Threepwood. The other voices in this game deserve a lot of credit too. Lucasarts always has good voice acting.
Overall-10/10
Doodleheimer's Recommendationitivity-
This game is a GREAT buy. If you can still find this game in stores, definitely buy it. This game offerers something, I should say everthing, for anyone and everyone. Puzzle solving, funny jokes and punch-lines, and an overall good game. Pick this particular game up today. And if only Lucasarts would release this game on the Dreamcast or Playstation. Lucasarts released Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine on the Nintendo 64. I wish they would have done that on the Playstation.
