"One of the most enjoyable FPS you can play"

If you're a fan of Star Trek, then you'd have most likely been drooling over this game for the past few months. Running on the Quake 3 engine, the graphics are sweet, and just because it runs on a multiplayer game engine don't write off single player, this is the most enjoyable Single player Trek experience yet.

GRAPHICS:
The graphics are as good as any other PC game out there. If you've played Quake 3 Arena, then expect the effects it produces. Although it looks a little blocky in some areas, most of the time you won't notice. The framerate stays constanly smooth (assuming you have got the graphics effects at a reasonable level) while only minourly affecting the effects.
Lens flare, fog effects, reflective surfaces, dynamic lighting. This game won't disappoint for eye-candy.

GAMEPLAY:
If you're a fan of Star Trek then this game will have you wetting your pants. The game is set out like an actual episode of Voyager! It starts off with the prologue, then goes to the intro then you're off on your adventures. It makes the atmosphere so much better than other games. If you've played half-life (and if you have a half decent PC you better had played it) then you'll be familiar with some of the structure of the game. For example, the preset events in half-life have been used here as well, and they do just as good a job as they did in Half-Life.
During the course of the game, you'll help Torres seal a core breach, prevent some invaders from taking over the ship and save countless crewmembers.
Another excellent gameplay addition is multiple paths. Depending on what you do in a mission or how long you take some things may change. For example in one level you have to find an injured crewman, when I played the level again I found him a LONG way from where I found him the first time around. This just adds a little more interactivity which never goes astray.
9/10

LASTABILITY:
All good things come to an end though. Unfortunately in STV:EFs case it comes a little too quickly. With only 6 levels with short ship missions in between, this game can be beaten with only a few days of normal play. Although the harder difficulties help a little, any decent gamer can blow through the levels in little time.
6/10

OVERALL:
A very enjoyable game...for the short while it lasts. I highly recommend playing on medium or hard when you start, or you won't get the full experience. If you're a Trekkie, you'll love it regardless, if you're a non-trekkie, then you'll probably be less than impressed with the length. But still, it's an extremely enjoyable game, and whether you're a fan or not, I suggest you get it.
