Baldur's Gate

"Oh Great... Now I Don't Have a Life!"

The Game:
This game has become so addicting that I no longer have a life. It has sucked over 150 hours from what used to be my life. It is my over-all favorite game I've ever played. And as far as RPG's go, it's great. Has all the classic options, plus nearly unlimited character customization. Especially character creation: You get to choose the gender, 1 of 6 races, 1 of 8 classes, 1 of 9 alignments, all of their abilities, what weapons they are best with, and even special abilities(and of coarse their name). The game also has a Dungeon's and Dragon's (D&D) element to it. This can get a little confusing, but just be happy the computer does all the math for you. I think this is the leading game in D&D RPG's. I also think it's the leading game in RPG's. Actually I think this is the best overall game ever! But that just my opinion.

Graphics: 10
The graphics in this game are above average. But I always have graphics at a 10 as long as it doesn't annoy me or take away from the game. Plus there are some cool death and spell animations.

Sound: 10
Decent, nothing too bad. And same as graphics, as long as it doesn't take away from the game it is a 10. Some of the sound effects are cool and a few catchy tunes, but none you'll be singing in the shower or humming while walking outside.

Gameplay: 9
This game has a perfect story of self-discovery and tragedy. The story will always keep you on your toes and never gets boring. There are also over 75 places to go and over 200 people to meet. With over 50 types of creatures to battle, and many people to fight, you'll never get bored. The control to the game is a little hard. But once you get used to it, you will be fine. And if you enjoy a challenge (like me), then you will hate this game. Just kidding, this game is very hard all the way up to the last boss. It will keep you reloading your last save point after death many times. Oh yeah that reminds me your also allowed to save your game at any time. Which is a great feature.

Replay Value: 10
This game has a near limit-less replay value. You will probably restart the game half-way through it because you wanted to try a new character. And once you beat the game you might want to try to beat the game with every type of character. And with over 1000 sub quests, there's always something you didn't do last time, or something that you want to do differently.

Summary:
Graphics/Sound: 10
Story: 10
Controls: 9
Character Creation/Development: 10
RPG Style: 10
Replay Value: 10

Overall: 9.8
Game FAQs Score: 10
