King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow
Review by TNagaoka
"One of the greatest games ever made!"
Let me start off by saying Kings Quest 6 is definitely one of the greatest PC games ever made. It was created in 1992 by Roberta Williams and published by Sierra. Back then it had no voices but within a few years when CD's became the popular storage system for games, voices were added. And the voice acting is incredible! For those new to the KQ games, they're basically from the adventure genre. No health bar however once you get killed you can restore a saved game to your previous location.
Graphics: 10/10!
Back when this game was made these graphics were pretty much called spectacular. Even now I think they still look good. The game has very vibrant colors, and nice effects as well.
Sound: 10/10!
The sound effects are simply amazing, the background music adds to the atmosphere as well. The narrator will alert you to events happening such as an enemy walking towards you.
Replayability 10/10
You'll definitely want to replay this game there's two ways to get to the end each one goes through different events. Getting all the points will take you a few try's because there's so many ways to mess up.
Story: 9/10
The story basically stems from KQ5 in which King Graham went to Mordack's castle to retrieve his castle and his family, along the way he freed Princess Cassima who Alexander is after in this game. Princess Cassima is actually the Princess of the Land of the Green Isles. You start the game off at the beach of the main Island, the isle of the crown. And the story goes from there and Alexander's attempts at meeting with Cassima. The story is quite enthralling and there are alot of mysteries along the way as well.
Rent or Buy?: BUY!
You can buy a thing called the ''Kingsquest Collection'' and get every single KingsQuest made for 25 or 30 bucks, which is a very good deal. You'll enjoy every Kingsquest game. You can't really rent the game anyway, I don't know of any such store that rents PC games considering you can copy any game in a few minutes.
KingQuest 6 is for sure a classic which is worth being picked up. Sierra has never let me down with any of their games from Robin Hood to Camelot. The game is also available in German and French versions for those who speak German and French. Overall the game offers a large amount of comedy (if you make it happen atleast) and you will go wrapped up in the story itself as well.
