"That little green frog comes back with a blast!"
One day I was cruising the aisle at a local software store, when one game caught my eye. Only costing about $15 I bought it and brought it back to my old computer. As soon as I started it up, I knew that it would be awesome.
For those of you who don't know, Frogger is a old classic, where the game composes totally of jumping a green from across the road into holes (or something) at the end of a road. Cars continually came across the road, and if one hit Frogger you lost a life. I think a newer version of the original had a river where you cross on turtles and logs, but I don't really know.:)
Anyway, even if I didn't play any of the original versions, the remake is totally fun.
Gameplay-8
Once you learn all the controls, the game gets really good. My favorite is still the first level, but in the new version theres 7 or 8 more levels that have many stages in them, from 1-5 different levels inside a stage. That's a lot of levels. The object is the same, however, in each level-find the 5 colorful baby frogs. There is always something different in each level. The levels get harder as each stage goes on, but the difficulty is not too extreme.
Multiplayer-5
I really don't like the multiplayer much compared to some games, but I suppose it's okay. Each player gets a frog, and they got to collect the most flags. Gets boring after a while.
Plot-3
Huh? What story? There is basically no story in this game, and that's okay. You collect baby frogs to pass a level. There's the story.
Audio-9
The music is sweet in this game! Bouncy, clear, and fitting the levels, it's perfect. Plus, its got a remix of the original music from the frogger games!
The sound effects are all there. Traffic, horns blaring, dogs barking, ect. All sounds like the real thing. The bouncing of Frogger can get annoying after a while. Boing, boing, boing...
Video-7
Okay, so the visuals aren't super. They're good, alright? The stage select is nice looking, the frogs are realistic, and lots of stuff look appealing, especially the terrain. On the downside, some of the really animated stuff, like snakes, alligators, and dogs look slightly choppy. But, they are pretty good looking.
Replay value-8
Once you've beaten it, you'll be back at the start looking for more, and starting again. Next time, you'll play just to perfect your high scores. After that you'll put it away to go tackle something else. I keep coming back to it, six months after. It's still fun, even though I've bought it four years ago.
Buy Or Rent-Buy
This game is easily worth the measly amount of money you spent to buy it. If you really hate Frogger, then steer away, but for anyone else it's a great addition to a CD holder rack.
