"You'll be playing Worms 2 for a LONG time..."

In 1995, the first game in the Worms series was released. Such a simple idea: a team of four 2D Worms with user-customized or random names shooting at each other with weapons like the Bazooka and Grenade. So simple yet so much fun! The graphics of the classic 1995 game were also acceptable. Players never really got bored of the game.
That's Worms - but it's Worms 2 I'm here to review! And Worms 2 is all that and more! Worms 2 is a kick ass classic for all gamers, crap, newbie or pro! I got Worms 2 in 1997 (the year it was released) and now, in 2001, I'm still playing it, at least twice a week - whether its at home with my mates - or online with my online mates! The replay value is the best thing about the game. On holidays, I'd spend up to four hours on the game a day! Now, for the ratings...

Graphics
When you start the game you'll be treated to one of a couple of FMV cut-scenes - which are graphically beautiful and comedically (is that a word?) hilarious! Anyway, the gaming graphics are simply superb. So simple yet so nice! 100%

Sound/Music
There are eight tracks overall that you can never really seem to get bored of - heh, I've been listening to all of 'em every day for at least four years! The music is ideal and quite good overall. But the soundbites kick ass! Each worm says something different for every action etc...(I'll get you! Revenge! What the *BOOM*!!) and also, you can select one of over 20 sound themes for your team, including Yankee, British and 007. What's more: You can customize your own sound themes! My personal favourites are South Park and Space Ghost: Coast to Coast themes.

Gameplay
The gameplay is possibly the best ever experienced in any game...Weapons that the worms can use include: Bazooka, Grenade, Mortar Bomb, Homing Missile, Homing Pidgeon, Bananna Bomb, Super Bananna Bomb and theres about 40 overall. You can customize your own weapon theme, as well as terrain for the Worms to play on.
Playing with friends is so much fun: make your own team, sound theme, terrain, weapon theme, option theme then start, and get ready to kick ass!! Overall, the game is very violent, and the game comes default with the blood option off, so don't worry, the violence is in no way influencial. The depth of the game is amazing.
Playing online is also excellent - you'll never be bored again. There's lots of online type games, including Roper (for skilled Ropers) and Deathmatch (for people who just wanna kick ass).
There are just so many options of this game - it lives up to the lifespan of classics like Age of Empires.
The game is also very funny. The default worm phrases (such as ''I'll get you!'' or ''You'll never get away!'' when the worm is hit) can be changed or customized to a theme of your own creation, like South Park (''Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You bastards!'' when a worm is killed, or ''I'll kick your ass butt****er!''.
I would go on, but then I'd be writing forever. You'll need to play this game. Now. 100%

Controls
The PC version controls are very comfortorable, and can be altered anyway. The PSX version can be tediously difficult, but thats a different game altogether! 98%

Difficulty
There are 40 one-player missions to plough through, and the enemies have excellent AI. Looking for another challenge? Then create your own enemy team and fight 'em. You can even select the AI yourself, on a guage of 1-100%! You control the difficulty. Whether you're playing online, with your mates or one-player, its always fun to kick ass! You decide

Buy or Rent
Two words: BUY IT!

Recommendations
As you may or may not know, the Worms series is huge. The Worms make an appearance on a lot of consoles, including PC, Playstation/Playstation 2, Dreamcast (RIP), and GameBoy Color! Other games in the Worms series include...Worms (1995), Worms United (1996), Worms Pinball (1999?) Worms Armageddon (1999), Worms World Party (2001) and the upcoming Worms Blast for the Playstation 2! Expect a review of that soon...

Pros
-I've had it for 4 years, and I'm still playing it
-Comedy
-Fun
-Hilarious cut-scenes
-Customizable teams and sound-themes
-8 Worm teams!

Cons
....

Availability
It's still in print, and like all the games in the Worms series, its very common.
