Introduction

Okay where do I begin, basically this is possibly the greatest and most realistic game ever to be created. Max Payne is an all action 2nd Person shooter, where you play the bad ass cop Max Payne himself. The game contains some beautiful visuals and the way Max speaks to himself is like reading a poem! This game changed my life, and I truly enjoyed playing it, definitely worth a buy!

Story

Max Payne contains a thrilling and well thought out story line. You begin the game as a cop working undercover for the NYPD, after a hard day at work Max comes home to visit his family (a wife and a baby girl) when the telephone rings as he notices someone has broken into his house. As Max answers the phone he tells them to call 911 and the person replies saying that they cannot help them. During this scene Max realizes something has gone wrong as he rushes up the stairs to check on his wife: Michelle and his daughter.
Upstairs his wife is screaming, as theres blood all over the walls, four men are inside the house as you must kill them to get past, the baby is dead and so is Michelle, this is where you take part to find out what is happening and why its happened to Max Payne.
It appears that the new killer drug that has been created has something to do with it, 'Valkyre' it takes people into a trance and is highly addictive with the gangsters. You must find out why you have become framed and turned traitor to the NYPD. You Live the life of Max Payne.
The story is too realistic, it's like an unsolved crime, overall this game deserves an award for the story line;) 10/10

Graphics

Where can I begin to explain to you on the detail and animation on the visuals and effects. Max Payne contains nothing more than a blend of breathtaking real-life almost graphics, the faces look superb, as well as the backgrounds. The animation changes when your getting a beating or pumping lead into someone else! It kind of reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2 (demo)You can basically do anything when shooting your gun, you can smash bottle, bust TVs and shoot wood while splinters of it fly's out. The whole games graphics are by far the best I have ever seen. 10/10

Sounds

The sound affects are also brilliant. Max's voice sounds really cool, and he talks using various similes, just like a poet would use. The gunshots and enemies voices sound amazingly realistic.
Also the music is great as well, such as the main menu music; sounds like an opening to a film, as well as the in game music which also has some really cool tunes. 9/10

Gameplay

The whole game is just exciting! You can do various moves like smashing objects, shooting with two guns and best of all using the slow motion to dodge bullets and wipe-out the enemies. The game is very gory as its mainly for adults, there is a parental lock for the little ones not having dreams about people getting wasted by sub machine guns as blood sprays all over the place. The gameplay is truly a joy, when you kill the last standing enemy it goes into a slow-motion scene where you watch the last man die in agony (nice:)) There are loads of levels to complete each with different weapons to find. Overall the gameplay can not be given a scoreless than 10 in my opinion;) 10/10

Last ability

Max Payne's got loads of levels for you to explore and complete, and in 4 different game modes you will want to try them all. It will last you a long time to finish on your first go and each level is packed with hard enemies to defeat (It's a hard game, trust me;)) and contains many weapons for you to use. The game is highly addictive so once you have finished it, you will want to at least do it one more time. 9/10

Overall Opinion

Max Payne is probably the greatest PC game ever created. I think its amazing value for money and definitely worth your hard earned. Theres hundreds of things to do and is packaged with a brilliantly crafted story, and beautifully decorated graphics, make this game a joy for all shooter lovers!
