"Codename Eagle is a poor excuse for a FPS"
Codename: Eagle is one of the worst first person shooters around, all i can say is avoid this game.
Graphics: 5 They are rather crummy but they do the job. The problems arise when you try to snipe at people in this distance, yet they all look like stick figures from afar. The weapons are all out of World War 2, so you can use guns like revolvers, shotguns, machine guns and the like. They are all true to a certain extent to the time, but they are so common in FPSers these days, that they are just tiresome.
Sound: 4 The guns sound like pop guns, and lack any real power. The game has some very bad voice acting, just wait till you hear the village drunk, its a crack up. And the main character 'Red' sounds so stupid its funny.
Gameplay: 4 This game is so disappointing. It has so much potential. The ability to walk around on foot, then hope in a tanks, then a plane sounds like a great idea, but the problem is that the plane is so complex to fly, it's near impossible. I had to cheat on one mission just so I could get past it. It had you bombing a train bridge, but the problem was that it had a time limit, and it was so hard to line the plane up to bomb the bridge. Another mission has you flying across a mountain range to escape right at the end, but I only completed it with sheer luck, because I only just got the plane up high enough without dipping into the mountain. It took several attempts to even do that.
Story: 6 You play as 'red' and must sabotage Nazi bases or steal documents and the like. Medal of Honour on PSX has a better story.
Rent or Buy? You can probably find it in bargain bins for $5 if you can be bothered. Maybe just buy it. If you hate it you won't care about the lose of $5.
Overall: 4 This is a disappointing game as it could have been much better. I recommend that you buy a PSX and Medal of Honour: Underground instead, as it is much more entertaining, and not nearly as bug ridden. This game could have been much better, but hopefully the developers will make a sequel that address all of the faults of the original.
