Civilization III
Review by The Procurator
" The best … Unfortunately , not the very best game in the world"
When you hear the name of this game – Civilization , you probably think of the great games with the excitements of creating your own civilization , with its own technical characteristics and way of existing. Well ,this is not such game. Why? Let us start from the beginning.
Graphics – 1/10 – The Graphics sucks! I mean, this kind of display , even at high resolution such as 1024 sucks. The funny men with the shovels and the funny background like it is from some animated movie with Tom & Jerry , really makes you laugh. With the newest from the graphic accelerators , this is a mistake Infogrames should not have done. At least they should have done a game of the Star Craft type ,although that graphic is quite old.
Gameplay – 2/10- This game is the best? Oh , man … You start with a builder and a different type of unit for each civ. , depending on that whether the civ. Is militaristic , comercial , expansionistic or scientific. This sucks too. You can not control the cities when they grow faster , the corruption raises no matter what you do , and after 200 turns you see that you are two – three time tables behind the other civs. The option system with the controls is more or less the same as Civ. 2 . Also ,with time , the PC - controled players will develop so much , that there is a large probability that your PC will run slowly at the end of the game.
Audio –9/10 – This is maybe the best part of the game – you have the best sound ever , with some wonderful ethnic music , depending on what civ. Are you playing with. There are some really cool beats and rhytmes from Zululand.
Re – playable? – 10/10 I’m playing it already for the third time. I think that the best thing here is the era and it changes at the leaders clothes and backgrounds. Like , you know , when they suddenly from being cloathed like some primitive ape , they get that cool outfit with suits , dresses etc.
Total score: 6/10
Recommendation : This is a great name and they will probably try to sell that name to you. Buy it if you have bought Civ. 2 and like strategies. If not , do not even think about giving your money on this game.
