Final Doom
Review by Joseph Mostarda
"Ultimate Doom + Doom II = Final Doom"
First, there was Ultimate Doom. Four episodes. 36 levels. Then there was Doom II: Hell on Earth. 32 levels. New weapons. New enemies. Now there is Final Doom, which has 64 new levels. However, Final Doom contains Episode 6, The Plutionia Experiment, which has the first 32 levels, and Episode 7, TNT: Evilution, which has the other 32 levels. There may not be new weapons or enemies, but Final Doom is hands-down the best Doom and the best FPS too.
Story 10/10- Episodes 6 and 7 each have new stories, so they are quite original. This is why I gave the story a 10. Plus, like in Episode 5, Hell on Earth (Episode 5 was in Doom II), the story will progress after every so levels.
Graphics 9/10- Final Doom doesn't have the best graphics, but Doom wasn't made to have them. It was made to be the best FPS of all time. Yet, the graphics aren't bad either. I mean, when the game was released in 1995, it was actually rather good graphically.
Gameplay 10/10- This still gets a ten. Its the same control, but since it has a Doom II engine, you'll have the new enemies and the Super Shotgun at your disposal. If you know any cheats... those still work too. So lets see, you can start in any episode, any level you want, you can select your difficulty, yep, this is the coolest Doom I've ever played. Plus, the gameplay is hard. Level 1 is actually tougher for me than Level 2. Final Doom isn't a cheap Ultimate Doom rip-off. Final Doom is amazing.
Multiplayer 10/10- Deathmatch and Co-op. Multiplayer rocks! If you have a LAN modem connection, you can shoot your friends or have your friends shoot enemies! Since Deathmatch gets unique levels, 99% of the fun from Final Doom is in Deathmatch. ID Software sure makes those Deathmatch games awesome. Maybe Doom III will be Deathmatch only!
Verdict- Final Doom is the final chapter of Doom. And what a way to end it! By the way, if you are looking for Final Doom over the internet or stores, buy the newly released Doom: Collector's Edition. It includes Ultimate Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, and Final Doom. By the way, Ultimate Doom will have all four episodes. But no matter how you get or have it, Final Doom is fun, and it combines Ultimate Doom and Doom II into one package. I've seen Final Doom on almost every PC, so you know its good. Get Final Doom today!
