Dark Age of Camelot

"This is a decent game but..."
This is a decent game but it gets somewhat repetitive if you are familiar with Everquest.
I have read the other reviews and it seems like most of you didn't even give the game a chance.
This game lacks many of the painful flaws of Everquest. While it shares some common flaws. This game has no Notorious ''group bug''. This is a bug where if the leader of a group goes linkdead everyone has to log off and log back on to clear group status. It was a very annoying bug that Verant hasn't fixed in over 2 years. The may have finally fixed it but knowing Verant I doubt it.
They have simplified grouping no one can complain about not getting a group. Now all you have to do is click find a group and the game tells you of all the people looking for your class for their group. If beats shouting every 5 minutes for a group in Everquest when like half the people have ignore on the shout frequency.
When fighting mobs no one can really kill steal. You get experience for however much damage you do to the mob. For instance I do 30% damage and someone else does 70% then I get 30% experience and they get 70%. While in a group though its split down the middle depending on level.
Its less of a pain if you go linkdead (disconnected from game) in a hostile area because you become invisible. Though if you are in battle you will not fight and after like 30 seconds you will disappear completely. When invisible you look kind of translucent people can see you but mobs cannot unless they are already attacking you.
Zoning is almost nonexistent And it lacks a lot of the lag issues involved in Everquest.
My nags about the game is its so much like Everquest all over again till about level 30 (which takes forever) when you can Realm vs. Realm. It's not really completely boring and its not completely like Everquest but very similar, but it can be boring at times.
Mythic is as bad as Verant sometimes even worse. Waiting for customer service usually takes 8 hours. Though when playing Everquest I thought their name policy was annoying, in DAOC there are 2 types of servers. One is Role Playing, where the name rules are supposed to be strict. Problem is I see people with names like Legolas, Vegta, Barret, Pikachu among other names that are unoriginal and are copied from other games or movies etc.. I saw one guy that's last name was Bugsbunny and anothers that was Climhazzard (Climhazzard is one of Clouds limit breaks in FF7).
Mythic should encourage them to play on the normal servers if they don't want to follow the Role Playing server rules. But... they don't.
As for people being rude I play on Guinevere and the people seem quite polite. Though on Nimue it seems there more rude players play... I have encountered way more rude people on Everquest though.
Plus the fact the realms lack underwater areas you can only swim on the water and not under which seems unrealistic to me. Many people probably don't care about that but to me it's important.
Whoever said that certain classes could solo to 50 LOL. I don't know of many people that could solo all the way to level 50. Soloing gets boring and you might as well be playing a one player game. Certain classes could solo their way to a point but those classes needed good players to play as them.
If you like soloing and you cant stand not being able to solo I recommend something like Diablo 2 one player. But soloing gets old in my opinion and its not always faster than grouping sometimes its slower.
Each realm has classes that are similar but not the same. While a bard in one realm has songs and spells, in another realm a minstrel (bard equivalent) just has songs. While they have some other advantage.
I haven't really been Realm Vs. Realming yet but everyone I know loves it.
One of my main complaints about this game is that too many of the armors look the same. Like all the staffs for the wizards etc. In Albion look like a shepherds staffs until like level 40 if you get a special one.
So I feel it could have more textures in it and the realms need more variance they just look too similar.
This game is a decent game though I am waiting for something fresh something like Shadowbane or Star Wars Galaxies to give this genere something fresh.
I think too many people ask way too much from a MMORPG if they don't like this game at all. This is a decent game and I think many played it for 5 minutes then quit and wrote reviews.
So while in my opinion while this game blows away Ultima Online or Everquest I think there are games out there that have more potential than this game.
