The Sims: Hot Date
Review by AgRaMaToS
"This is a cold date!"
The Sims Hot Date is the latest expansion set for the game: The Sims. If you don’t know already what the Sims is then I shall explain it for you. The Sims is a people simulator from Maxis where you can control families and their people, try to refill their needs (eg Eating- go to a fridge and make breakfast, bladder- use the toilet)
You can build a house and paint it, decorate it and others. You can communicate with other Sims and start a career to get money.
Hot Date is another expansion and the name tells everything. Hot Date! Yes, you go downtown and date other Sims and do a bunch of new things there. Unlike Livin large and House Party expansion packs this has some new things and the “special” section of the game; Downtown.
New stuff in The Sims: Hot Date
There some new skins for starters. Not very important but its nice to have your own style. In the house there are no new things actually (nothing that the other expansions have) like the Preserve Cooker, some new needs things and others…
On the phone there is a new option: the Call Cab option and you pay $50 to go Downtown. In the downtown area you can actually do anything that a human does in the town. You can buy new clothes (Formalwear, swimsuit, PJ) and wear them instead of the other clothes you have. You can have dinner with a date, buy magazines, gifts, have fun etc. O.K lets start to write down one by one the new stuff you will find in Hot Date:
- The new downtown area!
- Buy clothes in the downtown
- Buy flowers in the downtown to give as a gift to a Sim
- Buy diamond ring or necklace to give as a gift to a Sim
- There is a new section in a Sim’s bar ; the interests. You can actually see what a Sim likes and what not and try to improve that from the magazines where you can buy downtown.
- Have dinner with a Sim in a restaurant
- There are new neighborhoods!
- Changes in options such as when you communicate with a Sim when you choose Kiss then you can choose how to kiss like on the Peck, Passionate, Polite etc.
I can’t tell you more that’s just details. There are things you will find about them while playing the game
I must note that you can change downtown, create your own restaurant and others for free.
Now lets say the truth! When you are serious of playing The Sims your goal is to create a career and get more money to buy more interesting things etc. When you go downtown (besides that the only “new” thing in Hot Date) you have NO reason to go at all. What do you win? Nothing! Only lose money and Needs. While in Downtown you also lose very quickly relation points. It is stupid and unworthy. Really there are no new things actually in normal mode. You must have a job and Downtown is just for fun. Nothing else. You are getting easy bored, no action at all, no daily routine and most of all nothing to win! My advice to you is to Buy The Sims: Livin large expansion pack (HIGHLY RECOMMENT) or at least House Party (not recommend, same boring as Hot Date. Throwing party has the same disadvantages as going Downtown) and start a career get money and a bunch of fantastic things such as talking to a genie, have challenges and risks like the Crystal Ball, potions etc You will love Livin Large and it has a lot a lot a lot of new House things. Unlike Hot Date…
Iam giving this score not that The Sims is not a good game, iam giving the score because The Sims Hot Date is not an “expansion” is just a throw money to the thrash bin. An expansion must be what the name says: EXPANSION!
*Graphics: 7.5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Sounds: 6.5/10
Replay value: 6/10
Buy/Rent: BUY Livin large NOT Hot Date
OVERALL= 3/10
This is a cold date!
*NOTE: I gave a lot of thinking to give out these scores. Don’t think I just tell a score that comes to my mind this very moment like some people…
