SimCity 3000

Review by IcedEarthaholic

"Quite the Game for 20 bucks."

Well, I can tell you right now. I'm glad I waited for this game to drop in price before I decided to get it. I would've gotten the unlimited version, but I was short 5 bucks. But, this is plenty good right now.

Graphics: 9

Definately a big leap over Sim City 2000, but there are things that still need to be worked on here. Still, they do their job, and they do it well. The buildings look great, and there are all sorts of quirky little animations like cars driving, and trains chugging along on their tracks. Not to mention people walking around. And the interface for this game is top notch, but the way the bridges are built and stuff needs to be worked on, and sometimes the buildings do blur when you get extremely close. But still, it does a helluva job if you ask me.

Interface: 10

Simple, and elegant. Maxis did it's job here if you ask me. Everything is easy to get to, and get's it's point across. It seems that it's much easier to do things than it was in Sim City 2000, so new guys will get used to it in no time.

Gameplay: 10

Come on, this is Sim City, what do you expect? This is one of those rare gems that just sucks you right into the game, and makes you forget about everything else that is going on in the world. And the simple interface adds to the addiction. Once you get the hang of it, you're gonna be trying to do everything you can to perfect this game. Definately worth it.

Sound: 10

The music in this game is excellent, very suiting for the mood. Mostly jazzy big-band stuff that does make you think of better ways to build your city somehow. I dunno about you guys, but it has that effect on me. And the sound effects are great as well, they add to the atmosphere of the game. Easily relaxing if you had a tough day at work, or you're going through problems in your life, like I am.

Overall: 9

This is a bargain for 20 bucks. Had I known about how great this gem was going to be, I probably would've paid the full 50 for it. But this is a steal at 20, if you got 20 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, and you loved the previous Sim City installments, get this game, and you will not regret it!
