Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Review by Drax100
"Jedi Outcast is before its time."
I had owned Jedi Knight and I was skeptical about the game at first, but the all changed when I saw the screen shots. They all look good, so I went and bought the game. Well, it took me a little bit to get a handle on the controls but when I figured them out it was truly awesome. That was just half of the fun though. When I figured out how to throw the light saber, I found true joy.
I'll explain. When you throw the light saber it spins like a boomerang. At first I thought that it just went in a straight line, but I was wrong. There are cross hairs for the light saber, when you throw it, it goes wherever they are. I was truly at joy when I saw my light saber slice through 3 people. I couldn't have been happier.
The game has bots also. I hate playing without bot because my brother always kills me. He has faster reflexes than I do. So if there are no bots I really don't like the game because I never win.
Now you would think that the bots would be stupid and sporadic but they aren’t. They are extremely competitive, and challenging. I couldn't bet them at first but then I got a handle on the game.
I have a LAN so I load tested the game at how many people we could have before the game gets jumpy. I was surprised. We didn’t get it jumpy. We had 8 players and it was as smooth as silk. That was a truly fun game. I am very pleased with the game and it’s performance.
As you can see I am a multiplayer maniac. I think that single player is fun but I think that computers are so predictable. Because of this I am focused on the multiplayer. I just love killing other players.
The visual effects were very good. The effects made the movies look bad. You need to see it to believe it. My dad, not a computer person, he was sitting by me and watching me play the game while I was killing or being killed. My dad is a star wars fan though.
The interface is like or similar to counter-strike. The controls are mostly the same, and the weapons are selected similarly also. I think that Jedi Outcast is before its time in performance, game play, and visual effects.
