Imperium Galactica II - Alliances

"Quite Entertaining!"

Imperium Galactica 2 places you as the leader of one of several empires. Your goal can vary from as much as finding several crystals, to conquering the universe of its inferior inhabitants. In order to accomplish your goals you have to ability to research technology, build a space and land army, and either conquer or make peace with the other species inhabiting the universe. Imperium Galactica 2 manages to incorporate all these aspects very seamlessly and to provide a highly entertaining game with a great deal of replay value.

Graphics: 9/10

The overall battle map is nicely done with many small animations occurring across the universe, and space fleets flying through them. The characters are well done, and add a nice touch to the game as they are so frequent. The few cinema scenes are very well done and have no breakup or skipping. The battle sequences are not quite so well done. For example, if you have more than a pre-determined amount of ships/tanks, then the computer cannot handle the graphics and your units are stacked. Overall the graphics are very well done.

Sound: 10/10

Every character in the game has voice acting, and there is a seemingly limitless supply of ambient music. The sound effects are not highly varied, but they serve their purpose. The music to the cinema scenes is fantastic, and really adds to the impact.

Overall Gameplay: 10/10

The game has a slew of random events that can happen to each of three fundamentally different races. With such a drawing pool, each game is different overall, and with three ideologically opposite races, everyone can pick one that matches their ideology.

Controls: 10/10

The control system allows for precise control of your empire, and is easy to use. The system allows for mouse use, and for hotkey use to be customized for each person's taste.

Replayability: 8/10

The game does offer a lot of replayability, with the different races and the random events, however, there is a lot of crossover of random events between the races. Also, many of the random events give minor results, or are very similar to another. Still, there is a lot of replay value to be had.

Imperium Galactica 2 is a fun and interesting game that many people would enjoy. Once you start this game, you will probably put other games aside to finish this one.
