"Twinsen's Back!"
Remember Little Big Adventure? You know, that old game for the PC (and later also for the Play Station) where you started out as a prisoner who escaped from that weird facility. Anyway, for me, Little Big Adventure is one of those games you never forget. One of those games that you can go back to and play over and over again, with long intervals, that is. The sequel has been out for a few years now, and it's ever better than the original!
Many gamers out there have met Twinsen before, in the game Little Big Adventure for the Play Station and PC. For me, the first meeting with him was a pleasant experience, but not far as pleasant as his second visit on my computer. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest sequels ever! The game is big, the story is great and the visuals are technically not up to date but they're great anyway. Sadly the controls can be a pain in the neck, but most of the time they're ok. The game is very non-linear, the sound effects are good and the music is just great, very suitable tunes for a game of this sort.
Little Big Adventure 2 is a great adventure and it will surely be enjoyed by any gamer between twelve and 25 who is a fan of the genre. Oh, and as for the character design, that's another of many good things about the game.
Gameplay: 10/10 - Do I need to say more?
Sound: 10/10 - Good sound effects, ok dialogue and great music
Graphics: 9/10 - Great character design
Controls: 5/10 - Can be pretty annoying, but works ok anyway
Story: 9/10 - The story develops in a very clever way during the game.
Re playability: 6/10 - If you enjoyed playing the game the first time, the second time will be a pleasant experience too... after quite a long time, that is.
In my opinion, Little Big Adventure 2 is, along with Shenmue (DC), Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES), one of the best adventure games ever, and one of the best sequels also.
This game has got it all: freedom, good music, many different characters, each with its own personality and voice, the possibility to use vehicles such as your car, great story line and a big variety of moves due to the four different character control modes (athletic, aggressive, discrete and normal).
If you like the adventure genre, then buy Little Big Adventure 2!
