Review by Super Dan

"This game is only worth buying if you play to play online and you have a cable modem or better due to lag."

I was couldn't wait for this game but when I finally got it I found out just how bad it really was.

[SINGLE PLAYER]

The first mission is great, after you have finished it you are enjoying the game and you think it is the best game you have every played, unfortunately it goes down hill from here, the levels are so big that the game will always be stopping every five seconds and you will find that you keep getting lost, although there are a lot of secret areas the game will stop so much that you will just want to go from A to B as soon as possible, I found that setting the graphics as low as possible will speed up game play but will make the game look very ugly. Also I don’t like the cut scenes at all, they keep jumping every two seconds and it is hard to understand what is going on.

[MULTIPLAYER]

This game was for some reason made with NO skirmish where you could take on AI apart from multiplayer Practice which was just poor and not worth playing because the AI just stands their and lets the other teams defence kill them, I suggest that you play this once before going online and playing.

Before you play online I recommend that if you are using a 56k modem, you upgrade to something better like a cable modem because with a 56k modem you will cause so much lag and will not be able to play much. (Some people say that they have no problem playing with their 56k modem)

You can either use WOL or GameSpy to play online but I always use gameSpy because WOL seems to lag too much, if you play on WOL and live in Europe use the USA server because the European server causes too much lag.

It doesn't matter if you use WOL or GameSpy to play because you will always experience lag during play and it will get you killed a lot of the time, and it makes it hard to kill other people because you could be aiming at someone who left nearly five seconds ago and they could be behind you about to kill you.

[BUGS]

I don’t really want to list any because if I start telling everyone then people will start to use bugs to their advantage but I can tell you that there are 1000s or bugs that Westwood are saying that they will fix but we are still waiting for it to happen.

[WHAT WOULD MAKE THIS GAME BETTER?]

Well first I think it should be re-made from scratch (that will not happen) and these changes should be made:

1) A Nod Disk with Nod mission on
2) Better missions on Single player
3) Loads of bug fixes
4) More vehicles and Infantry to buy in multiplayer
5) More maps in multiplayer (official maps)
6) More ways of winning in multiplayer (what happened to capture the flag)
7) Less lag
8) Better European server on WOL
9) New buildings in multiplayer (like the construction yard)
10) More updates

I shall stop there because I could go on for a long time but these are my top 10 requests that would make the game better.

[Conclusion]

Renegade was Westwood’s first attempted at making a game like this and it didn’t work out as good as it could have, this game should still be in beta testing because it is not fit for release in its current state.

My personal rating for this game is [TBYB] (Try Before You Buy)

I hope my review helps you on deciding if you should get this game but I recommend that you read a review with a higher rating first.
