3 Sisters' Story
Review by Shirow
"Orochi K cleans his closet and finds...Vegita!"
In 3 Sisters' Story, you play as Koichi who is intent on avenging his parents' death. With the help of his brother, he moves in near the man who brought about his parents' demise. However, as our poor lad is a bit wet behind the ears (and not just there, it seems), he falls in loves with one of the man's daughters, Emi. His need for revenge is quenched and he now has to deal with his brother who, in addition to being a paranoiac, thinks the world revolves around him.
The plot of 3 Sisters' Story is surprisingly good for an adult game. It falls a bit short in places and can get boring while some parts are far-fetched but the story still manages to keep the player hooked provided the latter doesn't run away. The only problem is that this is the only strong point of 3 Sisters' Story. As a matter of fact, it even seems the producers thought the plot would be enough to make a good game since the gameplay is missing.
As you have to deal with your brother and make the appropriate choices to get the good ending, different ''side-quests'' try to add to the fun-factor such as curing a bunch of girls to get a reward from the school doctor. Some decisions will affect the ending such that you actually have to play the game more than once. Also, the term 'GAME OVER' actually exists here as some things you do will put an abrupt end to your quest.
Graphically, 3 Sisters' Story is merely average. Characters only have a couple of poses throughout the game. When a scene is triggered, you can still make choices if you really are that intent to get the most out of the anime JPEG pictures but even these are not that breath-taking -but they may take something else- . For some reason, you never really see Koichi's face even when he is on-screen. I suppose they wanted to give you the feeling that you were 'in the game'.
As for the sound, you may as well get a discman and put in your favorite song. Better yet, play a real adult movie and raise the volume up and hope that the various ''Ahhh…Ooooh…Yeah !!'' in the movie will match what is happening in the game. But then, if you do such a thing, you may as well go to the 'Institute for Moronic Idiots' and undergo treatment.
While this game has decent graphics, the gameplay is extremely lacking. Obviously, this is a text adventure where everything is done by clicking on your mouse or using some keys on your keyboard. Whether you are going to read everything is up to you but it must be said that you'll be missing a lot if you are just interested in the scenes.
Some parts are utterly frustrating and in certain situations, you need to make some choices about 1,000,147 times before you can move on. Moreover, everybody seems to consider Koichi as a punching-bag which means you get hit a lot. Each time this happens, the screen flashes. Not once, A LOT OF TIMES ! Hell, that idiot was even slapped a dozen times at one point and this alone nearly made me want to burn the disc !
Warning : Constant flashing in this game can cause brain damage !
Otherwise, the game itself is quite boring. Clicking, clicking and clicking while most factors and choices have already been set only succeeded in making me feel sleepy. Of course, such games are confined to such gameplay but this doesn't change the fact that 3 Sisters' Story is among the worst titles in the genre.
3 Sisters' Story is just one of those countless titles which try to make money off those hentai freaks (I don't care, I got it for free). While the game has decent graphics, you'll however have to look elsewhere if you want one that actually plays like a game and rewards you for your effort. Otherwise, you will have to put up with an irritating gameplay and it really isn't worth it.
Interesting trivia :
In the credits section, you will be informed that nobody supported the producers while they made the game. Too bad this didn't change anything.
