Neverwinter Nights
Review by ChronoSword34
"Possibly one of the best PC games ever!"
If you've been waiting for the past 3 or 4 years for Neverwinter Nights, you won't be disappointed! This lovely online RPG gem surpasses all D&D based PC games created yet! Bioware has captured the experience of playing D&D with your friends, with the 3rd edition rules that have been copied almost completely. With the DM Client you can play D&D with your friends online or off, with complete strangers, too! And not only this, Neverwinter Nights has a wonderfully captivating one player story, too.
Neverwinter Nights
Story - 8/10
I may not have played very much through the game, since it's only been out for a little less than a week, but basically you are a hired hero trained in the northern city of Neverwinter's Academy. You are one of the heroes hired and trained to protect Neverwinter from the deadly plague that has infested the city's streets. You have been trained to fight for a cure and to help protect Neverwinter from the rumours of an enemy attempting to dissolve the city from within.
Graphics - 10/10
One of the smoothest games for PC ever. Even when zoomed in to the maximum stting, the setting and character detail is still as smooth. Light is reflected from your armor and blade, your shadow lengthens and shortens throughout the day. And when zoomed in, not only is it just as smooth, but the detail is fabulous. Everything down to eye color and individual eyelashes. The clothing of some of the nobles and even the merchants are well detailed. Pockets are loose and noticeable, not just painted on like a cheap cardboard sign. The spell effects are well made, the lightning, individual vines of a bind spell, all are more beautiful than the one before it.
Music - 9/10
The musical score is marvelous, well orchestrated and selected. Just the right combination of harsh battle music, and the quiet, serene forest melodies.
Gameplay - 10/10
Here's the biggest gem of them all, the improved gameplay. Allowing you more control over your character than ever, from alignment to feats and skills, appearance to abilities, and more classes, feats, skills, bonuses and penalties than ever. This game was crafted from D&D 3rd edition rules, and almost every last one is added into this game. Also new, the DM Client allows you to build a world, and take charge of it as the villain, or maybe just an overlooking god figure as your players bumble about in the game. Online or just a network with your friend's computers, the DM Client allows you to captivate a true feeling of the paper and pencil RPG like never before.
Overall I give Neverwinter Nights a 9 out of 10, definitely worth the wait, and any computer upgrades you might need.
