"Why aren't more games like this?"
Introduction
Ok, so it's been quite a long time since I played this game. I've heard about remakes of it for Gameboy and Gameboy Color, but you know how that is, some of those remakes are so not like the original classic that you think, this is the classic I remember playing as a kid? The game of which I speak, folks, is one I'm sure most of us have heard of and even played at one time or another, Frogger. I believe it first found a home on the Arcade, and then made its way to the Atari and many platforms besides. Most of these have remained true to the original, but there are some that just don't do the job. For example, they took the music out of the SNES version! I never played the Arcade version, in fact the first and only one i've played was the PC version way back in 1989. Still, I loved it!
Gameplay 10-10. It's just about as simple as it's gonna get. You just have to move our little green friend across the road, avoiding the cars until you reach home. I believe in some newer versions there's also a river, but I don't remember if this one had that. I don't believe so.
Control ? I don't remember if Frog did anything except move across the street. I think all you used were the arrow keys, but again, I don't remember for sure. I don't remember if you actually had to make Frog jump over stuff, so I can't really score this category.
Audio 10-10. It's simple, but it worked. I loved the little intro song, to name one in particular. It sounded kinda like a little song I used to sing in school, which coincidentally was about a few frogs having a good time. The sound was simple as well, for when Frog died or something. It was pretty cool.
Overall 10-10. If you can find a copy of this game, give it a try. It may just bring back fond memories. It did for me when I found it a few years ago amongst our old computer games. I remembered sitting at home on days when I had no school and watching my brother and sister play Frogger, sometimes sneaking onto the computer to play it myself. I was never very good at it, but what the hell...
