Starcraft: Brood War
Review by Homer Jay Simpson
"Another good online game brought to you by Blizzard!"
Blizzard has done it again! Making an expansion for a great online game. Playing the single player seems boring after a while, but once you get on to battle.net its a whole new world. Filled with people you can play with and new people that you can make friends with. Ok lets get down to the review.
Gameplay: 8/10
The gameplay is great once you mastered how to beat other players and the computer, but after a while you will probably get bored and go on to the use map settings games. The use map settings games is what makes me still play Starcraft: Brood War. Without it I would play another online game or go back to playing my console games. The controls may seem confusing at first for a newbie, but once you get the hang of it you'll be on your way winning. You can also make a map of your own with the Campaign Editor!
Sound: 10/10
I personally love the sound of the game. It makes it seem very real when you hear a marine die or a building explode.
I also like the gunshots and how the briefings start with visual aids that talk.
Storyline: 9/10
The storyline is good and very interesting. Some gamers really don't pay attention to the storyline, but stick with just playing the game. I got to say that they are missing out on some great cinemas and how they complete the missions that shows how each race must become the most dominant.
Replayability: 7/10
At first when you buy the game and start playing on battle.net you will be on for many hours every month, but after a while of playing against other players and the use map settings map you will probably get bored. So my advice to you is to play for a while and then leave the game to come back later and check if theres anything new.
Overall: 7/10
Starcraft: Brood War is good, but not flawless. The replayability is so-so and the bad thing about battle.net is the hackers, ass*****, and the thieves. The only thing to do about them is to report them to Blizzard if you see them posting a website on how to get the latest hacks or you could just ignore them.
Rent or Buy?
I think you should buy the game, unless you don't like strategy games. Any ways anybody who loves to control armies of marines, zerglings, dragoons, etc. will be glad that they bought this game to add to their collection of online games.
