"A once- awesome game"

Until Early Summer 2002, Infantry Online was a free game, and everyone loved it and played it. on Mpogd (Multiplayer online games directory) it was almost always listed as #1, and sometimes it even ahd more users than Everquest. Then everything screwed up.

Infantry was always called 2D but it never seemed like it. Each Unit had nice shadows and gun effects, and they werent flat. The camera gives you an isometric perspective of your player, like Tony Hawk 2 for GameBoy Advance.

Sound: 4
The gunshots and explosions are done nicely, there is little voice talk. the radio only lets you say ''Watch your flanks'', ''Go go go!'' (And an arrow pointing up appears), and ''Medic'' with little staticy voices.

Gameplay: 1
The controls are extremely screwy and cant be changed for a joypad or joystick, and your soldier turns as if you were playing resident evil. For RPG Zones , you start out with nothing, constantly being blown up by older players. You actually have to buy things like Honor and Courage, instead of earning them through experience. Better Guns are overpriced. If you dare to ask someone a question, they'll immediately call you Newbie, which they dont even spell out (They type N00B). The Servers arent very stable and make you wonder where all the donations for the game go. Zones will constatnly have database wipes, a few minutes into the game youll probably get disconnected and have to exit and enter again ( Erasing any weapons you picked up). Worst of all, all of this is $8.95 and $6.95for everquest players. If you choose not to pay you have to follow strict guielines:

1) You cant have a name, when you enter a server gives you a guest #
2) You can only be certain calsses and use certain guns (Theres usually only one clss open for Guests, which usually has a Medic, a Grunt with a Rifle, 2 LAW rockets , and some grenades, Greandiers who are constantly abused, and Ripper Gunners, Grunts that can fire through armour when standing still and usually isnt available on most zones)
3) You must endure lots of trash-talk. Subscribers will wail on you every chance they get, in-game and in-chat. You are always a N00B to them.

Avoid Infantry at ALL costs. There are better FREE games out there, like an older version of infantry, Continuum , which lets you do everything you used to do in infantry with NAMES. America's Army is also a FREE game that's way better than this. It's best to forget you ever heard about infantry.
