"Surprisingly a very good game"

Backyard Football 2002 is an excellent sequel of Backyard Football. It combines many ordinary kids such as Pete Wheeler and Pablo Sanchez with some of the most famous NFL stars when they were kids, such as Brett Favre and Dan Marino. Now, lets get in the review.

Graphics: 7

Eh...The graphics aren't all that great but not all that bad either. The players and field and nice and well colored, and everything plays smooth. Each player moves and runs smoothly. The only problem with this is that the graphics are a little simplistic. For each human it is basically a large circle for a head and a very small body. When playing, the players and ball may get a little blurry so sometimes it is hard to see what is going on. But as an overall, the graphics are nice.

Sound: 8

As usual for most Humongous Entertainment games, the sound is good and fitting. Each player has their own special theme which plays whenever they score a touchdown. When playing, there is a very light background music which is nice and soothing. Also, you can hear the crowd cheering in the background. After a while the music may get annoying, but it is ok, because you always have the option of turning the music off.

Voice acting is a totally different story. Your two commentators are very annoying. They each have only a few lines which they repeat over and over again. Luckily, you can always turn off the sound.

Gameplay: 7.5

For hard core football gamers, the gameplay might seem a little too simple, but it still works, and that is what matters. Backyard football uses simple and easy to use controls. It is simply click the mouse to run to where you want. If you drag the cursor to one of your teammates, you may throw the ball to him / her. You can also create a wide variety of plays and change around your playbook. Overall, the gameplay is very simple yet very addictive and fun.

Replay Ability: 10

You can play this game forever and ever. It is so fun and addicting.

Buy or Rent?

For you hard core gamers, I recommend not buying this game because of its simplicity. But for others looking for a fun and addicting game to last you a while, this is your game to get.
