King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow

Review by Mooglelicious

"Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow"

Oh yes. It's on the floor. That's because I pulled it all out after I forgot to get that item.

King's Quest V is one of Sierra's greatest PC games of all time, in my opinion. I got this game through my best friend. He lent it to me one Friday night, and we sat there and played it ALL night long. This was before I knew about this place (GameFAQs). I wish I did then. I would have known sooooo much more, and have been a lot less angry.

Gameplay: 7

Before long, you'll want to hit something. Hard. And Fast. Hard and fast. You start out as Prince Alex, shipwrecked on an island. Around you are 5 other islands, all with their own specialties. There are a lot of items around the island, some you find, some you are given, and some you get from the shopkeeper on the first island.

The thing about this game that irks me is that if you make 1 little mistake, you're screwed. That's why making sure you do everything possible is essential. Unless you feel like starting a new game over and over again, do everything right the first time, and read one of the FAQs here!

Also, make sure to save a lot, and make sure to have at least 2 or 3 extra save files handy, in case you screw up.

If you're into puzzle games where you actually have to think instead of hack and slash, this is a great game. It's all about common sense in this game.

Music: 7

Decent music. There's not much you can say about it, really. I like the music during the tense moments, it will really put you on edge.

Game Control: 7

The mouse runs most things, although I'm sure you could use the keyboard. It's mostly a point and click that doesn't take too much computer skill.

Graphics: 10

This gets my highest score. Now if you have a good computer, the visuals are great. I like the little cut scenes they show every so often. Even on a semi-decent computer, you'll still like what you see.

Replay Value: 7

You will definitely want to replay this game after you beat it for the first time. There's multiple paths to take, so the games always got new things coming out at you. My goal is to hit 235 points on it, which shows that I have completed everything possible there is to do in the game.

To rent or buy...

Buy. This is a definite buy. A soon to be classic, no doubt! If you see one, buy it! Don't hesitate!

In conclusion, if you like games where you have to REALLY think before you act, unless, of course, you do like restarting over and over.
