Unreal Tournament 2003

"Best shooter of 2002?"

Unreal Tournament 2003,one of my now favorite shooter series (besides old timer,Quake)now on with the review...

Graphics-10 The graphics were extremly well developed,I have a HP Pavilion 552w and I was able to play with up to 32 people fine with Very High/High graphic levels on it so I'd say they made this really user compatable as well.One of the high things was taunts,after you selected the button and picked a taunt your player character would do what you would want him to do,as long as you would stay still or not get shot by a enemy.I'd have to say one of the best designed graphics system for a shooter,being compatable with any type of computer,now all we need is a MAC verison don't we?

Reply-9 (1/2)-Well it's a shooter,with the mod community all over this,this game will probbally last until Doom 3 or another Unreal Tournament comes out.I find most mods out now and extremly fun,and with nearly ten maps everyday coming in you could almost never get bored.Skins are also another fun part about UT2K3,but to download the models can be a problem for 56k'ers (like me).They diffuculty rankings are as hard as well, really good for pratices or skimirishes for online play.I like the way they put the teams up for the game.Draft your team,then beat them,and voaila you got yourself a hopefully championship team.

Sound-10-I liked the way everytime you shoot you heard the bullet (and saw it too) fire away from your gun,and hit whatever you were aiming for, being wood,metal or a body there was always a good sound for this.The voice packs was another highlight of this game,being able to download new ones was also cool,too bad there wasn't no microphone compatabilty,then this would be complete,kind of like DOD if anyone plays Half Life and it's numorous mods.Everytime you jumped up you could hear your character grunt when he went up and grunt if he hit the ground too hard or from a high area,like a building.All the sounds were put nicely together in my opinion,it wasn't the most realistic but definitley one of the most fun (and hey there coming out with realistic mods so you get maybe at least 100 more minigames for this).Another highlight was that every weapon had a different sound for it which was also nice too.

Overall-9 (1/2)-I found this game a nice compeltion to my shooter/rpg/rts collection,one of the best in my opinion as well.I will probbally still play this game untill 2004,with all the mods,maps,voice packs,and skins coming out it looks like I can never get tired with all of the downloads.Another MAJOR good thing about this is that you don't need to patch it up just to play with other people,you can play with people with a old verison,but then again the patches aren't that big (usually every two or three months,ranging from 6 to 30 megabytes).Definitley buy this game even if your not a shooter fan you'll find something it it you'll like!
