"Frogger takes on the world in this great game!"
Frogger, a game that requires dexterity, timing, and the will to explore!
Gameplay & Control - 39/40
First of all, let me say that the controls of this game are very simple. You can move Frogger up, down, left, and right. You can superhop to reach high places, use your tongue to catch flies, or use your croak to communicate with the lost baby frogs. Although the controls are simple, the game still provides a challenge. The objective in each level is to find the 5 lost baby frogs. The gameplay in this game is great. Frogger can hop onto moving platforms, such as turtles, balloons, birds, logs, and more. He can superhop onto tree stumps, and other high platforms, or even use it to jump over enemies! There's platforms that break, platforms that go up and down, and even some switches to trigger moving platforms! This game has it all, and it's really fun. Most of all, this game isn't direct like some games. There is no direct path leading you to the baby frogs, you need to explore a lot. You need to try everything, take some risks, and do whatever it takes to reach the frogs! The levels are huge and challenging, and will keep you entertained for a long time.
Graphics - 27/30
Most of the graphics in this game are very nice, but a few things are not very detailed. Some enemies and birds have no faces. No eyes, mouths, noses, nothing. Their head is just a big blob. I know, I'm probably making it sound worse than it really is, but I just think some more detail to some of the characters would be nice. It's nothing disgusting that will make you stay away from the level, but I don't think it would be too hard to give faces to some of the creatures, to make things look more realistic. However, the scenery of the game and details in other things make up for the lack of details in the creatures. The tumbleweed in the desert has a lot of detail to it, and so do some of the helicopters and planes in the sky levels. To sum it up, the graphics are ok, and they're nothing that's too bad or unappealing.
Music & Sound - 20/20
I really like the music for this game. It's catchy, and excellent, in my opinion. There is a variety of music among the levels, and each tune is appropriate for the levels. To make the music more realistic, they've added sounds to it. Like in the tropical levels, there is an occasional monkey screech, or elephant trumpet. In the forest levels, you'll hear the chattering of squirrels. In the desert levels, you'll even hear the word ''ribbit'', in a low pitch, to make it sound like a frog. The makers of the music for this game must have spent a lot of hard work making the tunes exactly how they wanted. Also, the game has good sounds. There is a boing sound every time you superhop, a slurp sound every time you eat an insect, and even a tone that sounds when you find a lost baby frog. The music and sound to this game is very good, and in my opinion, I don't think it could get any better.
Replayability & Extras - 10/10
The replayability of this game is huge. You'll want to play it again and again. You'll want to see how high you can build your high score, how fast you can complete a level, and if there are any new secrets you can discover. The extras of this game consist of 5 multiplayer levels, which can be played with a friend on the same computer, or even over the internet! The multiplayer levels are fun, and will provide a challenge if your opponent is good! This game won't grow old, it will keep you entertained for a long time.
Overall - 96/100: 10/10
This game has been rated 10/10 by me. It's very good.
Buy, Rent, or Not Even Try? - Buy!
You should probably buy this game. After you finish it, you'll probably want to play it sometime in the future, and it's always good to own a game like Frogger.
