"Awesome"

Stronghold: Crusader, the latest installation of the Stronghold series from FireFly Studios. This new game is nothing like the original. This game is beyond an expansion, it is a whole new battle. The war now takes place under the hot desert sun, where war is run differently here. Mercenaries are now available for hire, which takes this war to a whole new level. Adding more characters to this game not only improves the gameplay, it improves the fun as well. Every character has unique skills which can change the direction of a battle in an instant. Since this war takes place in the desert, food can become scarce.
Unlike the original there is also a new skirmish mode. War can now be played with 2-8 computer controlled players. If internet access is available, the war can also be played with 2-8 human controlled armies as well. If the maps that come with the game become tiresome and redundant, players now have the opportunity to create their own skirmish multiplayer maps. Different from the original, players can now create maps with total freedom. Sieges and invasions can occur at anytime during battles.
There is also a story mode, which lets players travel throughout the desert fighting different wars against different kings who all have different personalities. This also lets beginners get feel for the game if it is their first time playing.
The castle building system still remains the same except for one small option. Players can now create scout towers to look out for incoming enemies. Five archers can fit inside and they see farther than the regular towers.
If building a castle without the worry of war sounds appealing then the castle builder option is the one for you. It enables players to build that “dream castle” they always wanted to build.
The graphics have been greatly improved over the original. The battles now appear smoother and crisper compared to the original. The trees still sway with the wind, which greatly adds to the realism. The sound effects and music are very appealing in this game, from the sounds of the weapons clashing to the music, everything is ideal. The cries and screams from the soldiers still can be heard as the war rages on.
Because Crusader has so many new and unique features compared to the original this game is a very enjoyable experience. This game is for anyone one who not only enjoys castle sims, but a war filled with excitement and carnage.
