Review by Old NoiseTank

"One of the only racers I like."

On one of my many birthdays (well, not really) my brother picked me up a copy of this game for a present. And, from what I heard, this game wasn't really that great. But that point of view changed once I played this here game. Not only was I shocked by the amazing graphics and soundtracks, but I enjoyed the game. And that's a good sign, correct? Also, there are a variety of racers to choose from. Once you unlock them, of course.

~Graphics~ - 9
Impressive for a game of it's time. Yes, the characters do look blocky, but, they resemble the characters very well, so you won't really notice this while playing it. The textures and the courses are quite all right. They could have been revamped some how for the PC version, but, otherwise they're also fine. Not that many worries in this department.

~Sound/Music - 10
I'd actually really give the music in this game an 11 out of ten, but I can't. So.....yeah. The soundtracks in this game are just....unbelievable. I would consider them ALL masterpieces. All tracks are up beat and catchy. That's what got me singing to these tracks while playing. In other words... I love 'em. Excellence. Also, the sound effects are okay. They sound like they were ripped right from an older Sonic game.

~Controls~ - 7
You'll get used to them after awhile. What do I mean? Well, for the first time through trying to figure out the way this game handles, you'll either be: 1) Yelling or 2) throwing your controller in complete anger.

~Replay Value~ - 3
Yes, this game is totally fun the first time playing it. Racing through all 4 courses, trying to collect these Coins and Chaos Emeralds to unlock different ''things.'' But, it gets repetitive fast. That's the actual downfall of the game. Once you unlock everything....you just don't feel like playing it anymore. The different Time Trial options can also make you fall asleep after tying to complete all of them. Yes, this game only lasted me around 1 week until I didn't want to actually race anymore. So, this is basically the downfall of the game

~Overall~
I like it. You might like it. But, I still recommend that you go buy it since you can possibly find it at a local computer store for only a measly 5 bucks. Cheap buy, but it sure has some fun in it.
