"The work of a genius"

Worms is an older PC game, but a true classic nonetheless. There are many things that make this game special, and I will tell you what makes this game great in this review..

PLOT:1/10
-There really isn't much of a plot. It's just worms fighting each other. This game doesn't need a plot though. You'll be having too much fun to care about a plot.

GRAPHICS:7/10
-Seeing how this game is about 8 years old now, the graphics are obviously outdated, but they aren't bad. It is mostly just 2D graphics. Fairly detailed landscapes and good backgrounds get the job done pretty well, I mean, they look ok. Lots of other games at the time had better graphics though.

SOUND:9/10
-The sound effects in this game are great. There are the effects of things like shotgun blasts, bazooka explosions, and rapid fire Uzi shots. There are also a lot of one-liners that the worms will say at random times. You may laugh at some of the things they say(they even cuss at times). There seems to be a lack of much music during the game though.

GAMEPLAY:10/10
-The thing that makes this game so great is a classic gameplay formula that is/was very innovative and unique, yet fun and simple. The goal of the game is simple. You control 4 small worms, and the object of the game is to take out the other team with various weapons and tools in a turn-based strategy combat system. You each take 1 minute turns to make your move. There is a big variety of weapons/tools you can use, and you can use them to destroy/shape the landscape, which you can do things like dig tunnels/hiding places from enemy fire.

There are also land mines scattered throughout the level purposely put there to screw someone over. Your worm also dies if you fall into water/fire/other hazards, or gets blown out of the level. From Bazookas to Kamikazes, you'll find all kinds of fun ways to try and kill the enemies. Going against friends is so fun, you'll be busy forever. You'll have plenty of fond memories of this game after a good portion of playing 1 on 1 with your friends.

REPLAY VALUE:10/10
-There are a ton of levels in this game, and plenty of ways to kill each other. This game never gets old w/2 players, unless you get tired of a game no matter what. This is one of those games that will keep you busy for a while.

RENT OR BUY?
-Buy it! You cant rent PC games anyway, and this game would be cheap if you found it today. It's an awesome game that will make a worthy edition to your collection whether you are a strategy/war game fan, or just a casual gamer. Go ahead and indulge yourself with this classic.
