Fantasy World Dizzy
Review by BigCj34
"Yet another of the Codies excellent Dizzy Games"
Dizzy is a game by Codemasters which was releaed on many formats, like the Amiga, Commodore, Mega Drive, ZX Spectrum, and others. Most of these games are excellent, simple, and quite witty. This one, Fantasy World Dizzy is no exception. You are an egg called Dizzy, who has his other egg friends. He has arms and legs. Pity yet another of these classics gets forgotten.
This time, Dizzy is in a castle, and is in a prison. You have to collect 30 coins to complete the game. There is no story that I know of. Lets have a closer look at the game:
The graphics are average fare for its time. It's 2D graphics, what do you expect for 1991? They are nice and colourful, and well animated. The graphics are flawless, and they are neat. Score: 8/10
The sound isn't much. What there is is just a few beeps when you jump, die and the sound is coming from your PC box, not your speakers. There is no background music. Who cares though? The game doesn't need it, although there is music on the Amiga. Who cares, the games good enough! Score: 6/10
The gameplay's the games yeast, basically. What I mean is it's what makes the game rise, like in bread. The gameplay's primitive and simple, where you collect 30 gold coins and that's it. But to collect those coins, you must solve the puzzles and jump the high platforms. If you die, you get turned to yolk. Those puzzles can be quite tricky, it's more of knowing how to do it, and it's a matter of jumping from platform to platform, and when you fall, you have to start all over! On the game, it's divided into many sections like smugglers cave, and portfolio. In each section, you are just going about it, and if you go to the very left for instance, you go into the next section like on Monkey Island. Gameplay at it's excellence! Score: 9/10
The games length is quite short, you have one level. The level is big, and the game is addictive to play on, but you could have more levels. This doesn't rune the game completely though. Quality, not quantity as they say. Score: 7/10
Pros-Fun game to play
It's free to get
Nice graphics
Cons-Quite short
Substandard sound
You could rent the game but you should buy it. You can't buy the game new, but you can download it off the internet for free, even cheaper than renting it.
Overall this is yet another of Codemasters excellent Dizzy titles, which you should get if you are into old games. It might not appeal to you if you have never heard of it but you should try it. Excellent game. Overall Score: 8/10
