"The master of RPG's is back again."
Black Isle studios somehow managed to aquire the AD&D Planescape liscense from TSR. We who are AD&D fans did much rejoycing. You see Black Isle studios has done many great RPGs. Aside from Baulder's Gate, they also did my favorite computer RPG of all time... Fallout (Sorry, but Wasteland is honestly second to Fallout).
So when i heard that Black Isle studios was doing an AD&D in my favorite setting, I rushed off to buy it. WOW! i am impressed. A good Story, Great graphics, and awesome gameplay.
If you're looking for something Revolutionary, look someplace else. Torment uses the Baulder's Gate engine, though its twisted slightly to accmodate the mian character's unique quriks. you see, he cant die easily. As long as his body is intact when he dies, he simply wakes up a little while later...
Which is where the game starts. You, a person unknown, wake up in the Middle of a mortuary. A floating skull named Morte wanders over and begins talking to you. only to find out you have no idea who you are or what is going on. You're memory is sketchy at best, and everything that can help you figure out what is going on has been taken from you.
Thus begins you're quest: Find out who you are and what happened. sound easy? It isnt... But what worthwhile ever is?
Graphics-9. Nice details, but suffers from that annyoing Dithering effect that most Black Isle games do. Oh well.
Controls-10. Simple. A little confusing at first, but easily configureable.
Camera-8. Hey, its the year 2000. Dithering is an old-fashioned trick. While the pre-rendered background look nice, its a real pain trying to figure out where some things are hidden when you are stuck behind a building.
Sound-8. If i have a gripe, its because there isnt enough for a 4 disc game.
Overall-9. Buy this game!
-Amakusa goes a-hunting the lady of pain..... ooops! bad idea.
