Review by The Return of Hylian
"Who wouldn't want a game about destructive worms?"
Introduction
A large upgrade from the first Worms game, Worms 2 is superb game that will keep you playing for an extremely long amount of time. This game is easily an instant classic for everyone who has it! Love destruction? Love…….worms? This game sets you in an environment of your choice, with weapons of your choice and with people of your choice so that you may reek havoc for however long you please. Don’t have any friends? Fear not. Worms 2 even has the option to play online. (That way, even if you are ugly, fat and have no skill whatsoever, no one will know or care!) How did I get into this game? Well, one day my brother brought over a demo disc. One week later, we were playing my very own copy of Worms 2. The re playability will have you coming back for more every time.
Graphics 7/10
The graphics on this game are good, but not great. Although as the game begins, there are many different cut-scenes that are so hilarious, I could watch over and over and over again all day. And there are some very nice touches to all of the worms, explosions and backgrounds.
Audio 8/10
The sounds on this game are incredible. With some of the best introduction music I have ever heard, Worms 2 also has several other indulging songs to listen to. The best part, by far, are the comical statements the worms will make. All of the worms have their customized accent. There is just something about worms shouting plots of revenge at each other that is so hilarious. Redneck, New Yorker, Goofed, Danish-Pyrus, Wacky, and 007 are only a small portion of the number of sound themes that you can choose for your team. There is even a way to customize your own sound themes.
Controls 9/10
Even if you have never played this game before, it would only take a matter of minutes to figure out all of the controls. There is a nice control layout to this game so that you can pick what weapon you want to use, choose where to aim and decide how hard to fire it and still have 30 seconds left in your turn. All in all, the controls are excellent.
Gameplay 9/10
The gameplay is simply awesome. Managing your very own team of worms with an array of endless weapons is a breath-taking experience like no other. The weapon option allows you to choose every weapon you want to put in your arsenal, its explosion range, the amount of damage it can dish out and how long before you will be able to obtain it. Your freedom has no boundaries. Create an explosions-only battle, choose all of the homing weapons or like me, have them all! Bazookas, grenades, pistols, flamethrowers, banana bombs, super sheep…the choice of weapons is seemingly infinite. And don’t think that the game is just a blow-them-up and you win type of game. There is a little bit more to it. You will also have jet packs, girders, teleports and many more helpful utilities for you to strategically set up an offensive. (Or a defensive for that matter). There are somewhere around 45 different weapons at your disposal. You also have the ability to customize your own environment…..just to destroy it in battle. You can choose from snow, gulf, hell, medieval and many more types of terrain for your Worms to play on. You can also choose the color of the water on your level. Feeling too tired to create your own level? Then feel free to use anyone of the several default levels already set up.If you already think this game has endless freedom, then good. My point is getting through. If not, then I still have one more option to talk about. That would be the Option Editor. This baby allows nearly everything you can think of. Choose your style of crates, if secret weapons will be available, whether you have oil drums or land mines, fall damage, when sudden death will come…or you can just turn most of it off. Not to mention the various cheats you can obtain over the internet. Some of them include God mode, super jumps, suicide bombers, etc. Online play is a big plus for this game. There is nothing better than blowing up one of your friends’ (or a complete stranger’s) worms and watching their bodies slowly sink into the depths of the level. Single player is great too. There are about 45 missions in all. Each one is harder than the last. The down part though, is that it can get kind of repetitive. Let’s recap. With Worms 2, millions of situations are at your fingertips with options such as making your own team, weapon theme, opponents, terrain, sound theme, and option theme. All in all, this game is one of the greatest multiplayer games of all time for the pc. Whether you are looking for comic relief or just need to blow something up, this is the game for you.
Difficulty 8/10
With up to 45 single-player missions, this game provides hours of awesome and if-your-face challenge. But don’t think that’s all there is to it. Several of the missions situate you in an intense battle where you may be horribly out-numbered. While others begin you with no weapons at all! If missions aren’t your type, then create your create your very own opponent. Worms 2 gives you the chance to make a new foe and decide what their team is called, how skilled they are and what their worms are named. Slowly improve your skills by increasing your enemy’s intelligence or keep on kicking the same team’s arse repeatedly. But be warned, a highly skilled opponent can pull off various stunts that you may have thought impossible at the time. Either way, it’s a great game that gives you the chance to control whether the game is as easy as pie or nearly impossible.
Re playability 9/10
Worms 2 is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. I can play it hours at a time. Especially if you have friends, chances are that you will be playing this game a lot.
Rent or Buy
Definitely buy. I got this game for $10 and have spent as much time playing it as I have many of my $50 games. Trust me, this is a sweet deal. This is one of those games you won’t regret buying.
Cons
-Sometimes repetitive
-Single missions player not that good

Overall 8/10
By far a great game. A must have for people who love multiplayer games. I’ll be playing this game for years to come.
