"Dosn't compare to Diablo II"
There aren't many other reviews on this game so I thought I should make one that is a bit less biased.
The reviews I have seen generally state that this game is similar to Diablo II with more RPG aspects and more quests. While this is true in a very general sense it leaves out the fact that the graphics are worse then the original diablo and that the control system is worse then just about any of the diablo clones I have played.
The Character generation and skill setup is nice and it would have been very enjoyable if the game was actually playable without getting so frustrated by the annoying graphics and battle system...which is simular to diablo II but you have to have good graphics to pull it off....so that when you click on the enemies to fight them you arn't clicking on the ground etc and running all over the place.
I have a good system with a good graphics card and play NWN and Diablo II just fine....so it's the game not my computer that is the problem.
The sound breaks up as you play the game alot of times. And the game can get tedious in some instances where you are trying to figure out what you need to do next due to the fact that you can't see things that well.
The graphics are so bad and such a large part of this game that I will take a paragraph to explain some of the larger problems that come up due to the fact that you can't see what the heck is going on or where things are. You need to find keys to open doors in many places yet they look no different then the blurry tops of whatever they are on. You want to fight a monster and click on it only to discover that although your mouse pointer was over the monster the game though you meant you wanted to move slightly above the monster and not attack....even tho you saw the name of the monster when you clicked. The spells graphics are so bad it's not enjoyable to even use them and the monsters graphics are so bad you might as well have them all look the same because there is no joy in encountering new ugly blobs. I can enjoy replaying old games...like phantasy star II for instance and I've replayed FF1 many many times. Graphics don't make a game for me. But in this case you NEED graphics to make the game work. You can't play a graphically driver RPG when you can barely distinguish between a key or a fork and you need keys to open doors etc.
All in all I would STRONGLY suggest downloading the free demo of Divine Divinity which once again nobody has mentioned before purchasing this game. Save yourself 40$ and go get a good game instead of this one. If you were desperate and had absolutely nothing else to play....and you can find a copy for 10$....then maybe I would suggest getting it just so you don't die of boredom. Otherwise learn to play tennis...watch re-runs on tv....practice standing on your head....do anything and you'll probably have more fun.
To sum this all up let me just say that this is by no way even close to as good as Diablo II...let alone the expansion pack. I played Diablo II over 400 hours at least. I have played Divine Divinity maybe 20 and I was forcing myself.
Graphics 1/10
Sound 2/10
Gameplay 4/10
Replayability ?/10 (I can't finish it so don't feel right commenting)
Over all 4/10 (only this high because it's playable..tho barely and if your desperate for a game it's better then nothing)
Once again download the demo if you really want to try this game. Don't buy it without trying it first or you may regret it.
