Review by Crazy C Gamer

"Creepy and Mind Boggling"

The 7th Guest. I've only heard of this game once my g/f brought this over raving how oddly fun it was to kill time. Me being the gamer I am, I opted to install the game and load it up. This game bases itself on a Room puzzle style game. Which basically means in Crazy C terms is that you walk to a room ala 1st person view and solve the room puzzle to advance in the game.

Your main objective in this game is to clear the puzzles and find the mystery of the game. The game starts out with a round table like area in which you and an array of guests listen in onto the story and then go about their business to solve the puzzles just like you. The interesting part is walking into rooms and seeing small little cut-scenes of the other guests trying to solve the same puzzle.

The Story:

The story is key on most PC games and this is no acception. That may have sounded bad, but the fact is this game is rich in story. Each room is a piece to the story that add's to the gameplay, it only adds more after you solve the puzzle in a room. This game gets, no, this game DESERVES a 10 out of 10 for story line because of the simple fact the game.

Story 10 out of 10

Graphics:

This game came out at a time when graphics only needed to replicate the objects. This means that all objects look good enough to let you know what they represent. The graphics are considered great in some aspects such as the ghosts in the game that are very nicely done.

Graphics 8 out of 10

Difficulty:

This game is quite difficult. It's one of those games where it's hard until you do it. Each room has a puzzle that is difficult, if not impossible and time consuming. Some puzzles will be easy as pie, yet some will make you jump up and scream saying, ''I BET THE PROGRAMMERS COULDN'T EVEN BEAT THIS PUZZLE THEMSELVES!!'' However it is still well rounded and you technically don't need to beat all the puzzles to beat the game.

Difficulty 10 out of 10

Replayability:

If this game lacks anything, it's replayability. That's right, this game is about as fun the second time through as a 2nd root canal. The first experience is rich, but there's nothing that'll make you want to go through another mind wrenching puzzle and time consuming mazes in this game to beat it a second time. Nothing is worth it.

Replayability 1 out of 10

Buy?:

I don't even know if they sell this game anymore. Try searching around computer shows for this game and pay only 10 bucks top for this game. TOPS. Anything more and your being ripped off.

Overall:

After the great reviews I gave on the story it seems I'd give this game a high score right? Wrong. The mind numbing pain I went through with the puzzles was a huge turn off. It's not so much the difficulty, but there are puzzles that literally take 10 minutes, and if you screw it up, you get to start over, not fun. The 7th Guest get's 1 point for each guest.

Overall 7 out of 10
