Delta Force: Black Hawk Down

Review by AOL is evil

"A quality game that serious and casual gamers can enjoy"

This game is a nice mix of a realistic first person shooter and a UT2K3 type of fragfest. It is realistic in a sense of weaponry and physics, but at the same time has respawns and explosives, as well as high powered stationary weapons. If you love either game you probably will love this. Where this game really steals some of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield's thunder is the appeal to all FPS fans (though serious gamers will probably enjoy RS more, they can still enjoy this game, my self personally I like them both equally).

Now onto the body.

Graphics 8/10

These graphics are as sharp as you can really expect for a PC game. Very crisp player and weapon models, as well as environment. However, the color is a little bland compared to RS' graphics, most of it is a light grey, the models look a little too white (basically everything except for the weapons).

Sound 9/10

The sounds are typical explosions and gunfire from many FPS games. There are real no flaws with it but it doesn't stand out beyond other games (the musical score at the beginning isn't all that great either, unlike RS, which totaly kicks ass, ok, maybe I'm comparing this game too much). The weapon noises are all a little strange too.

Controls 10/10

It's a PC shooter, not much explenation needed. Basically it has 100% customizable controls and is very responsive.

Gameplay 10/10

The environments are simply HUGE (you can move almost as far as the eye can see). Because of this the creators probably felt it was necessary to include respawns (in the real thing it had hundreds of people so I guess it would be realistic in that sense). But it's VERY frantic and calls for little stealth (since this is a war, after all). You get to ride on black hawks and take shots at people. The problem is with the clunky AI that doesn't even shoot at you from time to time.

Replay 10/10

Online play is probably the highlight of this game, that's why this has such a high score. The AI might be pretty stupid but when pitted against human players it's quite different, people are unpredictable and can surprise you no matter how good of a player you are.

Conclusion

If you don't have a high speed internet connection you might want to reconsider getting this game, if you do, then by all means get this game, whether you are a UT2K3 player or a CS player you should enjoy this game. This game satisfies both types.
